How about this as a conspiracy theory?

Skip knew he had to win 8 games to get a contract extension. He let J’Mar slide because he knew his other QBs were awful. He got his 8 wins and contract extension and now will coast the rest of the year to an 8-4 season and a bowl appearance.

Skip cannot win double digits. Even with this crappy schedule, he still cannot get to 10 wins...

    Good conspiracy theory?

We've seen this pattern before so I'll buy in.

Once we got certain milestones the team dynamic changes drastically

I agree. It's really, really stupid. But regardless of when athletes are tested, it's still really stupid. And not administered equally and fairly. According to this article, 26.7% of college football players already admit to smoking marijuana.

I agree. In one case (Higgins) an athlete is endangering the lives of others by driving drunk on the roads, where other young people could be killed. Why does Higgins get a one-game suspension while J'Mar smoking weed in a dorm gets a two-game suspension?

You're not listening to what Breaux --and others-- are saying.

Why did Louisiana Tech wait until the (I'll spell it out for ya!) MOST IMPORTANT STRETCH OF GAMES OF THE YEAR to do the re-test? Lord knows, we had plenty of games we could have won easily (UMASS, etc...) without J:Mar. Or why even bother with these tests at all? The more I read about this shit, the angrier I get at Lousy-ana Tech! This was an effort by somebody inside Lousy-ana Tech to hurt our football program. I want to know why?

Which means the other half of us have. In fact, some of us have played a lot of "organized football". Some guys on here are coaches, former coaches, etc.. Of course, that doesn't mean ANY of us understand your point.

If the NCAA is a private org imposing arbitrary rules on participants' private lives, doesn't it make sense that the entire administrative staff get tested regularly? (Yes, it does.)

Not if the NCAA doesn't mandate testing for its' administrative staff. And why would they? The administrative staff isn't competing for anything. This is not hard stuff to understand.

You assume we had a choice of when. The NCAA sets the rules on when not LaTech.

All the players had to do was stop for a few weeks.

You do understand that some players tested positive back in September, but wanted to keep playing so the actually stopped don't you?

Cannabis is not a performance enhancing drug and has nothing to do athletic competition. Their testing requirement is completely arbitrary.

The reason why they would is to avoid being hypocrites. That is, if for arbitrary reasons, the NCAA prohibits athletes from using then it must be good for their administration to do so as well.

This is not hard to understand.

You guys are completely missing the point. It is an illegal substance unless prescribed by a doctor. It does not matter if Tech, the NCAA, police officers, or a high school senior administers the test. It doesn’t matter when it happens. They got busted once and were warned. Have some personal responsibility and self restraint and, “STOP BREAKING THE LAW, ASSHOLE!”
