I think the LA Tech community is motivated by the wrong prizes. I couldn't give a shit less about a bowl game. Bowl games are just no big deal. Don't about 70 (?) teams make it to FBS bowl games each year? Big whoop! Why is that special? Anybody can get motivated for a bowl game. A bowl game is a one night stand.

On the other hand, a Conference Championship, is really special. People remember conference championship teams for many years, and sometimes longer. There are only 10 FBS conference champions each year, whereas there are 35 FBS bowl games. A conference championship is much more valuable than a one-night stand. It requires great team-work over a much longer period of time, as well as a bit of luck, over an entire 8 game (in our case) schedule in one season. Hell, we've been to 6 bowl games since we last won a conference championship. You tell me which experience is more rare, and more prized?

I remember the 2001 and 2011 conference championship teams. Those teams had heart, those teams fought for one another, those teams rose to adversity. The defense had opportunities the past two weeks to get nasty and force low scoring games. Instead they gave up 20 and 31 to anemic offenses.

Make no mistake, this one was on the LA Tech OFFENSE. 270 yards of offense will rarely get you a win in an FBS college football game today.

On the other hand, our LA Tech defense gave up 353 yds of offense to UAB, and only 20 points. That usually gets it done.
