Exploit in the direction of panic. There are certainly cases of people dying and going on ventilators for more than a week. Absolutely. If you are over 70 this virus lives up to the hype. It is extremely dangerous. Louisiana just had their 5th person die (3 from the same retirement home). If you are under 40 and panicking you are part of the problem. Unless you have very serious health issues you are very unlikely to suffer complications from this virus. Kids under the age of 9 show almost no symptoms. Those between 10 and 30 seem to recover very rapidly.
My question would be what constitutes panic. Is it panic inducing to tell folks to keep away from groups of 10? I suppose, but isn't that also the only way to flatten the curve? Seriously restricting our behavior is about all we have left. It WILL spread, but the speed of the spread is the question. And still, with all the panic, the bars and restaurants were full in many places. We, as a society, don't take well to curtailing our behavior. The issue is not the effect on the disease for those who are not at high risk, it's their unknowing spread of the virus to those who ARE high risk. Many folks who've tested positive are asymptomatic. If we wait to curtail our behavior until we don't feel well, we've already spread the virus to all we've come in contact with.
It's where we are. The media coverage has been partisan (on BOTH sides) and that's annoying, but it shouldn't surprise anyone. Worst case scenarios ALWAYS lead. Just like Fox News never reports on the fact that undocumented aliens are less likely than the general population to be criminally violent...the heinous acts of the extreme minority lead those stories. Just like NBC is going to report on those that are sickest.
It's annoying, but it's also capitalism. If it bleeds it leads.

Add Guisslapp to that list that has been wrong since day one about everything and now think they have a shot at getting rid of Trump. Guisslapp is nonstop posting to himself.I think he's worse than me.
People with blood type A might be more susceptible to coronavirus, study finds
People with blood type A might be more vulnerable to the coronavirus, while those with type O blood could be more resistant, according to a new preliminary study from China.
Researchers studying COVID-19 in its outbreak epicenter, Wuhan, and the city of Shenzhen found the proportion of Type-A patients both infected and killed by the disease to be “significantly” higher than those with the same blood type in the general public.
Type O patients, meanwhile, made up a smaller proportion of both those infected and killed by the virus.

I'm a Doctor Radio guy...the mantra that many of the presenters have announced is that all of us have already been exposed to the virus. I accept that observation and realize we must deal with the consequences.
We all have a responsibility to take care of ourselves and our loved ones...and even our neighbors to the extent we don't endanger ourselves.
I'm not hunkering down and hibernating, but I'm not licking doorknobs either! If we all do what we should do, this will pass and we will move on. We are not "importing" the virus like Italy and Iran did (i.e., multiple flights daily supplying the Chinese silk highway) up until less than 21 days ago.
Keep calm and carry on.
I'm an asshole! What's your excuse?
My stock portfolios...OMG! 'nough said about that.
But, with school closed, and my nurse daughter pulling additional shifts, I have been babysitting my granddaughter this week. LIFE IS GOOD! She just screamed, "Papa come here! I seen a ghost!" A ghost, where, I don't see a ghost. She says "It's a ghost of bigfoot, they are really hard to see!" LOL! Only a 4-yr-old could think of something like that.![]()
I've discussed this at length before, but to recap ...
Media outlets are selling a product. And it's not their content, it's their viewers. They sell viewers to advertisers. And they will air whatever content they believe attracts more viewers. Calls for journalistic integrity / professionalism / truth / blahblahblah are obsolete and naive. Media outlets are comprised of salespeople, selling.
If their corona coverage is focused on major metros, it's because they anticipate more people will watch / listen / click for coverage of New York, New Orleans and Seattle than coverage of Ruston or Lake Chas.
SEAN HANNITY (HOST): We gotta be very real with the American people, I don't like how we're scaring people unnecessarily. And that is that unless you have an immune system that is compromised, and you are older, and you have other underlying health issues you're not going to die 99% from this virus, correct?
DOUG COLLINS: That is correct Sean, it's good to be with you again.
HANNITY: Alright so that's the point, I mean they're scaring the living hell out of people. And I see I seeing them again as like oh, okay, let's bludgeon Trump with this new hoax.
