I saw something about the survivability of the virus on surfaces this morning. That is pretty amazing and difficult to fight.

I was watching something that said it survives on cardboard and paper for 24 hours, meaning you could be hunkered down in your house and catch it from a letter you got out of your mailbox. Ordering food and having it delivered won't work either because the virus just survives on the packaging and in the food!

I am going to do Romney-type "extreme" social distancing. I am going to try to stay 6 feet from myself.

    Re: Covid - 19

Remember when Goosy said "The pandemic response team that Obama assembled to organize FDA-CDC-State response that Trump disbanded in 2018? "

    Well Goosy was wrong again...

The official who once ran the White House pandemic program dismissed a false Democratic talking point that Trump eliminated the pandemic-response team and criticized reporters for parroting the claim in news stories.

"No, the White House didn’t ‘dissolve’ its pandemic response office. I was there," wrote former National Security Council adviser Tim Morrison for the Washington Post on Monday.

"It has been alleged by multiple officials of the Obama administration, including in The Post, that the president and his then-national security adviser, John Bolton, ‘dissolved the office' at the White House in charge of pandemic preparedness," Morrison wrote. "Because I led the very directorate assigned that mission, the counterproliferation and biodefense office, for a year and then handed it off to another official who still holds the post, I know the charge is specious."

As part of an effort to slim down the historically bloated National Security Council, the directorate of global health and biodefense was merged with two other positions—not eliminated—according to Morrison.

"If anything, the combined directorate was stronger because related expertise could be commingled," he wrote.

Morrison, who testified in the House impeachment inquiry, said media figures and politicians have acted in bad faith to attack the White House.

"It is this reorganization that critics have misconstrued or intentionally misrepresented," Morrison wrote

You know that feeling of "Oh chit! here we go" as the roller coaster is just topping that tallest hump...well...

Louisiana is about to explode with Covid-19 cases. It's in every major hospital in the state already, in every larger city. And I have it on good authority there are a ton of folks infected who have been going around, not practicing social-distancing...many of them in the healthcare field. Oh, not on purpose. They were not aware they were infected.

    Latest numbers in Louisiana:

    392 cases
    10 deaths
Now in 26 of 64 parishes. Rapides Parish has joined the party, as has Webster.

    Re: Covid - 19

    Anti-American liberal bastards! Sorry......
    • Former aides to high-ranking Democratic politicians are joining a so-called "coronavirus war room" in order to attack President Trump's response to the pandemic. Protect Our Care -- a nonprofit tied to liberal dark money groups -- announced the war room on Thursday, with its leaders accusing Trump of exacerbating the pandemic. Leading the war room is Zac Petkanas, a former adviser to Hillary Clinton and former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Sarah Chase, a former research associate for the presidential campaign of Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., is joining the team as well.

Patrick Devlin, former Communications Director for Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C., will serve as an adviser to the war room as well. War rooms are generally set up within political organizations to provide rapid response to the media cycle.
    • “This team has a wealth of know-how, experience and expertise and with the coronavirus crisis, which has been exacerbated by President Trump’s failure to prepare, we need the best in the business working on advocacy efforts to hold President Trump accountable for his failure to lead,” said Brad Woodhouse, Protect Our Care's executive director.
    • Protect Our Care has been tied to "dark money" organizations like Arabella Advisors, which backs other groups attacking the president over the coronavirus response.
    • Specifically, it houses the New Venture Fund and Sixteen Thirty Fund, both of which support another Democrat-aligned group -- American Bridge -- that's hammered Trump on the coronavirus response.
    • The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that Pacronym is planning to spend $5 million on ads attacking Trump's response to the pandemic. That PAC is affiliated with the New Venture Fund and Acronym, whose board includes former Obama adviser David Plouffe. The ads will target five swing states (Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Arizona) and run on major digital platforms like Facebook.

Actually, I am not wrong. There used to be a team responsible for pandemics led by a Director that sat on the NSC. Trump, via Bolton did a “reorg” firing a couple guys from the team and then put the responsibility for pandemics under a Arms Control and Bioterror organization.

Here is what Fauci has to say about the team:

“We worked very well with that office,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told Congress on March 11. “It would be nice if the office was still there.”

I didn’t criticize the China travel restrictions. I criticized the fact that Trump didn’t do anything with the time he bought.

I also pointed out that you have to consider and mitigate the consequences of a travel ban because it can result in reduced transparency going forward.

OK, it's considered. So what? Not imposing a travel ban would have been stupid, you are just so obsessed with Trump you cannot even admit it.

The Chinese have been the opposite of transparent through this whole process. I don't trust any of their historical numbers, nor do I trust any of the numbers they are releasing now.

Every country now has a travel ban....even on Americans. Wil this make us less transparent?

We have no idea how it was communicated to the Chinese, so it could have been done well or poorly. That part is a matter of diplomacy. Given the trade and security tensions we have had with China, it would have been helpful to give them a heads up. I suspect we did.

The mutual travel ban with Canada was coordinated.
