Hooray! a saliva, taken from inside the cheek, test for C-19 has been approved. Yippee! Now I won't mind so much being tested. Wasn't gonna do that other way.

That's how the standard flu test is administered. Makes sense because at the end of the day C-19 is a virus much like the typical influenza virus.

Projections are always a “guess”, I guess, no matter how precise or confident they are. But capitalists work with “guesses” all the time as we are always guessing on future earnings of businesses.

Saw a good one on Twitter:

The spread of coronavirus is based on two factors:

    1. How dense the population is.
    2. How dense the population is.

One of them describes New York and the other describes Louisiana.

New Orleans/Jefferson Parish, but I get it.

What I don't get is why California didn't suffer compared to other similar areas when they had MUCH more exposure early on. Maybe much earlier than we thought.

LA County vs Cook County. Chicago had 5000 more cases and 200 more deaths.

Because California took action quicker than other states. Closing schools in effected regions weeks ahead of others, banning mass gatherings ahead of others, locking down cities ahead of others.

I don’t appreciate being lumped in with drunk Mardi Gras goers in Monroe, Shreveport, BR, and NOLA. We are not the same and I am glad for it.

If you have been faithfully social distancing, you don’t fit this description, but many Louisianans mock these restrictions on social media. Maybe it is just talk.

Unfortunately, for some, and I must emphasize SOME, it isn't just talk. The past two days in my 'hood, there was a birthday party, for a supposed "adult" where about 25-30 gathered. Oh, they started off "trying" to maintain some distance but as the crowd grew and the alcohol flowed that went away. Then just yesterday a bunch of idiots, mostly college students, came back to a house pulling boats, they had been skiing on Cane River Lake, and again they began to pile up in the open garage numbering at least 15, I'm guessing. Beer flowing freely as I saw the empty cans on the lawn this morning.

I just roll my eyes at it all...

I'm sorry, did you mistype something. Or maybe I'm just to dense to get the meaning. Glad to see a joke out of you. (-:

A group of MED STUDENTS down from our house have hosted two big parties since the shelter in place order came down. In general, I see folks abiding by the guidance...but the ones who don't certainly stick out like a sore thumb.

One week? That's all it took?

Nah, the China virus was there back in December and you know it.

One week is a big difference in curve flattening an exponential curve.

It was likely spreading in New York much earlier undetected as well.

Also, over half of people in NYC use the subways/trains for their daily commute. That had to hurt them.

Also New York is testing more widely than any other place, by a long shot.

And Mayor DeBlasio and his chief public health official, some dizzy woman, were urging New Yorkers to ignore President Trump, get on the subways, go to your favorite restaurants, "we are New Yorkers, we be tough!" That was...early March?

And again, the cities/states hit the hardest are all under Dem control.

I believe this helps explain why we are counting Covid-19 positive cases the way we are...politics and money!

I'm an asshole! What's your excuse?

When I asked this question several days ago, all you had was less density. Now you come back with early mitigation, which is total BS considering it was full blown in Washington by the time California got concerned. It as already full blown in California too. That never made sense.
