In our case the state is also suffering $millions in loss revenue from reduced O&G activity.
The state has released statewide and parish by parish numbers. Natchitoches Parish is particularly hard hit, as we depend heavily on tourism, which has ground to a halt. Natchitoches has a HUGE hotel industry, something like 800+ hotel rooms which normally have an 80%+ occupancy rate. It also has a high hotel tax....
So, while libs celebrate the downfall of America's small businesses...in hopes of creating a new batch of guvmint-dependent folks who will vote for the Dems, yeah baby! And of course, libs rejoice in the struggling economy in hopes it will damage the Orange Man's reelection bid...well, in the meantime state and local governments are taking a pounding and services are being cut. The damage is real and the short-term outlook in particular is grim. It'll get worse before it gets better.
More reason many of us are watching this whole thing with an eye on the flip side of the lockdown. I have posted several times that if they are proven wrong...and by "they" I mean those directly responsible for this virus mess shutdown...Dr. Fauci et al and some of the governors who particularly over-reacted, and all those "researchers" who have poo-poohed every inexpensive and readily available remedy...should pay a huge price. All of their assets should be seized and placed into a pool to reimburse all the innocent Americans destroyed economically by this. Well, it would only be a token reimbursement given the amount of $damage, but it should happen and serve as a warning to those who would place themselves as the "all-knowing" guru and dictate national policy.
Let me hasten to add...IF they are proven wrong. To me that verdict is still out. But, it is looking more and more like a big over-reaction to a "virus hoax." We shall see...
