I believe LDH uses the rate based over a number of days, not the grand total rate. And the 1,666 case reduction probably hasn't been included since those were not new cases and were not tied to specific dates.
Totals on June 25--53,415 cases out of 660,665 tests, 8.09% rate
Totals on June 19--48,515 cases out of 590.909 tests, 8.21% rate (used this date since June 17-18 totals were before the net case drop was included)
Last 6 days--4,900 cases out of 69,756 tests, 7.02% rate
Last day--938 new cases out of 12,160 tests, 7.71% rate
The CDC also reports that actual cases may be 10 times higher than reported. If that is true, the actual U.S. death rate would be around 0.5%.
