The good news is, my businesses were very minimally affected. The bad news is, others businesses were (or are). But I'm smart enough to know that it's much healthier to breathe clean, fresh air all day, than it is to breath your own exhaled carbon dioxide all day. That's just nasty. And very unhealthy to the mask wearers. And some day you'll hear this from the medical community. But you won't hear it right now, because they are afraid of negative repercussions. That's one of the downsides of taking away peoples Freedom of Speech.
Enough about the masks. Like most folks, I'm tired of hearing about masks. The good news is, COVID deaths are way, way, down. Hopefully we can move on soon.

Covid deaths are starting to go back up but that is because it lags new cases and new hospitalizations.
CO2 easily passes through even N95 masks. If you are wearing cloth, CO2 concentrations outside the mask is the same as the space between the mask and your face. Maybe you aren’t as smart as you think.
If you are social distancing you won’t have to wear a mask all day, just when you are around others. If you are wearing it all day, you are probably a health care worker. They have been doing it for years and seem to do just fine despite rebreathing some of their exhaled air.
No, maybe others are smarter than you think. I've got close friends who are legit doctors who say it's very unhealthy to wear masks all day. They are good and useful for what they are designed for......e.g, medical operations and procedures in close quarters for short periods of time, or maybe making a business trip inside a plant where breathing is challenged (again for short periods), etc... They are not designed for long term use and wear (e.g., the grocery store clerks), and under ordinary circumstances doctors would recommend not using them the way many people are using them now.
Do you know any doctors who would recommend breathing carbon dioxide vs fresh air?

An N95 mask - which is not what cashiers wear (They wear much more porous surgical masks or cloth masks) - filters particles to 0.1 microns. CO2 is 0.0065 microns, which means that 15 of them could go through a single pore of a N95 mask side-by-side at the same time. Only 4 percent, by volume, of the air you exhale is CO2. Even if all the CO2 you exhale didn’t pass through the mask the instant you exhaled, Fick’s law of diffusion would result in an equilibrium with ambient CO2 (100 times lower concentration), presenting any detectable buildup of CO2 inside the mask in an instant, well before you inhaled again.
That uncomfortable buildup you feel inside the mask is water vapor - the stuff that helps carry coronavirus through the air.
HD, just get some fashionable masks like me. I get compliments of the few I have and have more on the way. Guess I need to get one with a Tech logo on it...there are so many NSU Demon masks, and LSpoo masks around here, it is sickening.
As a doctor who wears a mask all day, please wear a mask. Not sure I qualify as in if Hogdawg’s “legit doctors” though.
Mike Pence: wear a mask
Hannity (for goodness sakes): wear a mask
Trump: okay with masks
How is still a debatable point? How are other ‘first world’ countries getting a better handle on this than the US? What are they doing right that we’re getting wrong?
We’re fixing to lose Fall sports over selfishness and stupidity.
It is true that only a very few young people are dying from Covid. But do not be naive, their demands are not based on a fear of death. This is a pure economic matter. They are wanting medical insurance beyond their playing days and revenue sharing. Players have the conference and universities by the short ones at the present moment. Conference and universities are spreading the message we are going forward only with the best health interest of the student athletes in mind. The best thing to due in that situation is to cancel the fall seasons, that is not debatable if the best health interest of the players is the only consideration. But what the powers to be are really saying is, "we will move forward the best we can without sacrificing the billions of dollars at stake." The athletes are saying fine, but if you are going for the money grab we want our share. This is capitalism at it's finest. Nothing more, nothing less. The only hope is that players in all conferences do not join in this cause. The Pac-12 athletes are acting no different than NBA, NFL and MLB players. They are using the situation to negotiate the best case for themselves.

How about these as a fashion statement?

I have read that masks protect others while distancing protects yourself. This was expressed by "laypeople." Is it correct? Either way. these practices seem wise and easy to do. I retired about when the ChiVi hit so I am able to stay home a lot but wear a mask when inside public places. My wife is a NP so she interacts with sick folks regularly, so that worries me some. She has been tested at least twice, both neg and I think will be tested again shortly as a matter of routine. As an aside, I think blaming Trump for this ChiVi and people not wearing a mask is nonsense.
