They are basically going to go with the top 16 teams as of the end of April or start of May that have placed a bid to be the regional hosts. If Tech does well in the next three conference weekends, it should be in that top 16 grouping.

I agree that the chance of being a Super Regional host is slim at best.

Depends on who we would be going up against. Not much chance if against a Big 12, SEC, or ACC. Better chance if against another G5.

....Ruston probably doesn't even have the hotels and other resources to host a Super Regional.

Why would they have the hotels for a Regional (4 teams) and not a super regional (2 teams)?

Super Regional sites will be announced at the same time Regional sites are announced in early May. This isn't a normal year where Regional winners who have bids in get picked to host the Supers.

Ruston have plenty of rooms and resources for four baseball teams (regional) or two baseball teams (super regional)

I assumed there would be a delay for obvious reasons.

I think our governor could end up being our biggest problem regarding hosting or not... assuming we are actually in the running.

I thought the Super Regionals will be picked from the 16 Regional sites after the regionals

If capacity is the problem, how much could we gain by adding temporary bleacher seating along the right field line where the tailgate spots are?

I personally am in the camp of keep it small until we have problems of sellouts and fans having problems accessing games. But let's say we need more permanent seating. Could we not just put seating down the right field line, covering the small berm and tailgate spots? Furthermore could we move the visitors' bullpen past centerfield and take that space for more seating? I really think there are options to add more permanent seating if needed.

Capacity should not be a problem.

Allowed capacity could be a problem.

yeah if our state is still at 50% which for us is 1200 capacity it only makes sense for the NCAA to choose a bigger stadium where 50% is 3-4K. Could you imagine the complaints if we were to get a regional and say a well traveled regional program like Miss State or even LSU were to have to come to us and only get 200 tics. Nightmare for the NCAA.

Each team is only guaranteed a certain amount of seats. The NCAA get's the big money from the bids from host teams. I think the minimum bid was $50K this year for regional hosting.

Outside of seeing your team play at home, its pretty much an advertisement for the campus on an ESPN affiliate for at least 6 games. Louisiana Tech is plastered across the wall at home plate and the Logo is on the centerfield turf. Everyone watching will see that in every game.
