He shouldn't listen to that bunch of evil-doers.

But, he should listen to the generals on military matters. I'm waiting for Goosey to rip Biden a new one, since he criticized Trump for not listening to his advisors...well, at least Goosey alleged as much.

Biden has been getting these briefings on Afghanistan for nearly 20 years. If the Generals don’t have a realistic timeline for when the Afghan government can stand up its own security, how long do you expect us to have troops on the ground? Indefinitely?

    LOL! so predictable.

Trump had us on a timeline to be out of Afghanistan by May 1st. Biden pushed it back to September 11th...don't agree that date is appropriate for this. But, the bigger point is, Goosey, YOU criticized Trump for ignoring advisors, even when it was pointed out as commander-in-chief/president such matters are his call and he did meet with his advisors, he just chose a different path in some cases. Nope! you are just showing your TDS again.

Now...in the case of Afghanistan and Iraq and Syria, I do agree at some point, we need to get out of there. Of course, our absence WILL create a new crisis, how bad and how much will it affect the world, and thus us, that remains to be seen. But don't be naive and think we can simply withdraw and nothing will happen. Our presence on the ground serves as a HUGE deterrent. It's not the numbers of American military personnel, it's the simple fact they are American.

I posted on those other threads "Trouble in Syria" I think is one of 'em, about how when tensions were at their peak and it looked like Turkey was allying with Russia and Assad's Syrian government, they might attempt to force us out of Syria...us and our Kurdish allies. The Turks had sent two full combat divisions, 24,000 troops into Syria, and tanks, helicopters, and mobile artillery, the Russians were supplying air support, logistical support, and 1,200 combat soldiers, and Assad had mustered another 19,000 troops, with tanks and 60 attack helicopters. And opposing this massive force was a mere 2,500 US soldiers dug in along a river guarding a bridge and a hydroelectric dam power plant. There was also about 3,000 Kurds nearby. The question was asked, how can that small US force hope to stand up to such a massive force arrayed against it? A Belgian army officer, there as a NATO observer, addressed the media asking that question, with "Hah! if the Turks and Syrians are foolish enough to attack the Americans, they will be completely wiped out and destroyed." The Turks and Syrians were not so foolish and after blustering and thumping their chests, they quietly withdrew. We, and the Kurds, still hold that bridge and power plant today.

That is the power of US presence. And why simply withdrawing, without considering the ramifications AND providing a sensible substitute...maybe a UN force on the ground...is dangerous. No one, not the Chicoms, not Putin, want to piss off the USA and open a can of whoop-ass on themselves. I am mostly concerned for the Kurds. Yes, left on their own, they will make anyone pay a high price...the Kurds would fight the Russians, Turks, Syrians, to a standstill and inflict heavy losses on them, for awhile. But eventually, if the attackers are willing to endure the casualties, they will wear the Kurds down and ultimately defeat them. Then the evil forces in Iraq will be emboldened to join in the attack against the Kurds. Even if the Kurds manage to hold on to their homeland in northeast Iraq it would only be after suffering enormous losses. They have earned our loyalty to them. We should not abandon them to their fate.

Of course, the current subject is Afghanistan, not Syria and Iraq. No foreign power has EVER, not EVER, been able to sustain influence in Afghanistan. Alexander the Great, and his awesome, powerful Macedonian army grinded to a halt there. It marked the end of his adventure, his reign, and his life. The British invaded Afghanistan from their strongholds in India and after just 10 months the British commander proclaimed it impossible to subdue this country. That after his supposed Afghan allies turned on him and joined the other tribes attacking the Brits. The Soviets tried, for 10 years, and left defeated. So, I suppose the US should leave too. It is indeed unfortunate, it will be a humanitarian disaster as many tens of thousands of Afghanistan civilians will be slaughtered by the Taliban...but just don't follow it in the news. After all, out of sight, out of mind, eh.

Trump didn’t even read his daily briefings. He was making decisions by the seat of his pants.

According to the Biden White House, what Joe Biden says does not represent the official position of the Biden administration.

I guess that suggests what many have suspected, that Biden is not really running the show in this administration. The question is who IS in charge?

Children of the 60’s hippy generation are “in charge”. These children are spoiled, socialist elitist which are morally bankrupt and have huge white and American success guilt complexes. Losers!
