obummer caused the weakest recovery and slowest growth period in US history, coming out of the Maxine Waters, Chuckie Schumer caused mortgage crisis, when the economy should have bounced back largely! And now Sleepy Joe will cause another missed opportunity for a speedy recovery coming out of the Chicom caused virus crisis.
The housing market will implode again in the near future. Lumber is soaring at never before highs, and the interest rates are at all time lows. As soon as a house hits the market, it’s got people paying more than asking on day 1. I can’t believe what people are paying in North Louisiana for older houses, and even more so what they are paying for new construction. In 5 years, that $180 sqft house you just built might appraise for $140. I’m currently building a house, and even with frugal spending and saving for years to be able to pay cash for several things like lights, appliances, etc, I’m still at $130/heated ft. I’m sure it’s much worse in other places of the country.
Many would rather stay home and collect a government check. Many are asking for 30k guarantee income to do nothing. Paid for by government.
It’s not just the salary people are thinking about. Retirement contributions, insurance so you have access to more medical options, not to mention the opportunity to be fulfilled by working and earning a chance for advancement are big factors for people who care.
Edit: What I mean is that employers are offering what the government can’t/won’t. If people would take advantage of jobs available rather than suckling at the teat, they could realize much better options than sitting on their butt wasting away.
More than that, it’s about choices. Be a grown up and make good choices. A barista in New York should expect to have 4 roommates in order to afford living in the city. Or, if their dream is to be a barista, they should move somewhere that cost less. I already don’t buy $6 crappy coffee. We start paying coffee waiters $15-$18/hour, I think $12 coffee will go unsold and they close.
[QUOTE=Guisslapp;1798492]Having the government subsidize businesses that pay poverty wages is going so well.[/
Most minimum wage jobs are not intended to be “living wage” jobs. You think a 16 year old working at McDonalds should be paid $50k a year?
