My son just revealed he, and my daughter-in-law, each had the China virus last summer. Fairly mild cases, although they didn't feel too spiffy for a few days. Didn't want us to worry so they didn't tell us at the time.

Based on all evidence, masks do little to nothing to curb the spread - it's had washing, disinfectant, social distancing - but most of all it's getting the damn shot (numbers are getting more and damning for the anti-vaxxers) and staying the hell home when you are sick or someone in your household is sick...
And Dawg80 not all parish presidents are elected by the general public as President - in your more rural Parishes the President and VP are "voted/appointed" each January by their juror peers -

Dropped my 22 year old Tech student off at the airport this morning. He had his red, white, and blue neck gator mask on. This young man was quarantined 3 times last year, had the virus and was down for almost three weeks with it, then went and took the shots. He is living life and does not want to miss out on anything because the power hungry bureaucrats are trying to control our lives.
I saw idiocy in action this week at Disney. Masks not required in shoulder to shoulder open air areas. Masks required in open air attraction lines and on the open air rides themselves. Masks required in automated transportation when only your immediate party is inside. Masks not required while standing with the masses watching fireworks. No rhyme or reason to any of it.
Oh, I was referring to the Home Rule Charter form of parish government with a president and parish council, like here in Natchitoches. But even in the archaic police jury system all jurors are elected...right? So, if you upset the voters...bye bye.
This is common sense.
I have made a great effort to social distance (and I did get the J&J vaccine, which is pretty much just as effective as the others in preventing SERIOUS complications from the virus), but that distancing has been violated over and over again by some mask-wearing idiot that thinks this stupid piece of cloth protects them from anything at all. They just get as close and personal as they want because they think there is some sort of immunity attached to the cloth. I guess they are confused by the concept "microscopic"!
If anything, these masks give folks a false sense of security and make them do things that are counterintuitive to smart behaviors. Making our children wear masks for 7 hours a day is just cruel and has no basis in science. Saying a vaccinated person has to wear a mask is likely to slow the progress of getting anyone vaccinated.
Exactly, restricting freedoms while mandating the very thing that they said would free us is going to do more to discourage vaccines than encourage them.
Rules wouldn’t be needed if Republicans would just be responsible. Alas.

That’s not true…at least not in Louisiana as it pertains to raw numbers.
Caucasians have a vax rate of about 57% in LA (1,664,083 vax, 1,255,360 not vaxed).
Adding the unvaxed blacks to the unvaxed Hispanics (the number is much less if you only count “illegals”) and you still don’t get to the number of unvaxed caucasians in the state of LA.
