How quickly you forget how we got here.

On July 8, Biden said that "the likelihood there's going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely."
So, Biden didn’t think the terrorist would cause problems. But now that it is a huge problem, he is on vacation being read to while sitting under a heating blanket, or whatever people who were born before Millard Filmore do for fun.
Yes the border was totally out of control when the "grown ups" took over
Oil and fuel prices have dropped drastically since the "grown ups" took over
Unemployment has dropped since the "grown ups" took over
Things are much better with our allies (China and Iran) since the "grown up s took over

Biden said that the Afghan security forces outnumbered the Taliban and they were trained by US military, so they would be fine. Trump may have thought the same thing. However, if Biden or his admin knew the Afghan’s would flop like a wet paper towel, why did they go through with this effort in this way?

He didn’t say they would be “fine.” He said their failure was not “inevitable.” If we aren’t there, we can’t control what happens. It was up to the Afghans to defend themselves.
You are asking questions that have already been explained…
Can you answer Biden’s question? How much longer would you have them stay? But that ignores the reality and the facts that already presented on the ground in Afghanistan when I took office: The Taliban was at its strongest mil- — is at its strongest militarily since 2001.
The number of U.S. forces in Afghanistan had been reduced to a bare minimum. And the United States, in the last administration, made an agreement that the — with the Taliban to remove all our forces by May 1 of this past — of this year. That’s what I inherited. That agreement was the reason the Taliban had ceased major attacks against U.S. forces.
If, in April, I had instead announced that the United States was going to back — going back on that agreement made by the last administration — [that] the United States and allied forces would remain in Afghanistan for the foreseeable future — the Taliban would have again begun to target our forces.
The status quo was not an option. Staying would have meant
U.S. troops taking casualties; American men and women back in the middle of a civil war. And we would have run the risk of having to send more troops back into Afghanistan to defend our remaining troops.
Once that agreement with the Taliban had been made, staying with a bare minimum force was no longer possible.
So let me ask those who wanted us to stay: How many more — how many thousands more of America’s daughters and sons are you willing to risk? How long would you have them stay?
Why do you think Trump negotiated only with the Taliban and not other Afghan government representatives?
On mess in Afghanistan...
as usual I am a voice of reason on this forum. I always tell it like it is, and in this case, there are many moving parts.
First, yes Biden et al are bungling the Afghan withdrawal and as such many innocent, good people will be harmed. It's a cluster f_ _ k there! This is a fact and even Goosey won't be able to cover for the clown show that is the Biden administration. Noteworthy too is how Biden has gone into hiding...again...during this crisis. Have a new adjective to add to the list:
Sleepy, Creepy, Hidin' Joe Biden
Yes, this all should have been and could have been handled much better. But...
if Trump was POTUS we would have seen something similar. Maybe not as big a mess, but a mess nonetheless. Just varying degrees of a cluster f _ _ k.
No matter who was POTUS, the end of our involvement in that effed-up place was going to end very badly for lots of people. Unfortunately good folks...your average Afghan citizen...was going to get screwed big time and there is nothing humanly possible to avoid that. This is another Vietnam. Let me repeat that...this is another Vietnam. Well, even worse! In Vietnam's case we have a nation of people who actually LIKE the West/the US and MOST importantly, a government in 'nam that does too. The Vietnamese do not like the Chicoms, as recent overtures to ally with anti-Chicom nations reveals. In Afghanistan there are lots and lots of average folks who love the West/US but none of them have any power/influence on what is going on and worse, what will go on there.
But, Afghanistan = Vietnam insomuch as we were NEVER going to win there...NEVER! Let this reality sink in. And, so like Vietnam all we can do is cut bait and get out. And, never, ever go back.
In summary, yes Biden et al are bungling the end of our involvement in Afghanistan. Yes, it could have been conducted much better. But no matter who was POTUS we were going to see images reflective of 1975 Vietnam in 2021 Afghanistan.
