Wouldn't mind visiting Arkansas-Monticello again to see if it's still a beautiful campus.

I’d say moderately better. His coaching isn’t hard to beat, obviously. But your writing ain’t bad.

That's always been a farce. Since all donations roll up to the same Athletic Director and Department, the AD can simply choose to move monies over from baseball budget to football budget to compensate for the shortfall in one sport or the other.

Now, choosing to give to academics instead of athletics would be the smarter move, because their budgets roll up to different people in different departments.

Just to reference all the DII comments, my new fall home for the next four seasons involve the Harding Bisons.

We play the Muleriders, Wonder Boys, BollWeevils, Reddies, Tigers, Savage Storm, Rangers, Bison, Patriots and RiverHawks.

There are 12 teams in the Great American Conference (GAC) so their schedule is 11 straight Saturdays (no weeks off). The week after the season ends those ranked high enough start the 16-team DII Playoffs, ending in the national championship in December. Yes, 4 extra Saturdays for the final two teams. 15 games, no breaks. Take that D1!

DII teams only get 36 full schollys. They split em up like D1 baseball does.

The conference's top schools are Ouachita Baptist, Harding and Henderson (coached by former Bulldog Scott Maxfield.

But remember, Harding has the nicest indoor facility of any D2 and many D1s . . . . ;-) (And they've been to the national DII playoffs last four seasons)

Our football season tickets are $50, Booster club is $125/family and family members get into ALL games, all sports, all years.

Each stadium we've attended so far has nice little playing fields for the children during the games. Attendance only ranged so far from 2,500 to 4,500, so there's room.

(A cute story: The Harding coach, Paul Simmons, hit the trail a few years back seeking donations for his proposed $4-4.5 million indoor facility. He wanted it to be funded fully by the Harding football alums. Making his pitch to a couple in the DFW area, the wife interrupted Simmons and asked, "Where will the kids play?" Simmons confused, asked her what she meant. "The indoor facility will take up that nice practice field our kids played on during Bisons games." Simmons, came back with, "We'll build a special field for them beside the stadium." She punches husband's arm and says, "OK, we'll add a million to our part." That's how a $4.5 million facility got improved to $5.5 million. After the kids field was built, Simmons was allowed by the school to add ad squares around and on the 30yd x 20yd childrens field with ALL that revenue going to supplement assistant coaches pay.)

It ain't D1, of course, but it might be a fun 4 years.
Each of these DII schools own their communities.

If you tell the coach what you’re giving and it is not confirmed by the AD the check will not be forthcoming. Pretty simple. McLelland is gone

    Thanks Mikey!

    An adjustment.

BUT, a welcome adjustment. I'm meeting some pretty neat folks who love their jobs, their schools, their teams.
