Why isn't BC calling out the lack out atmosphere. Is he happy with everything?
This is what the average empty suit in the athletic department doesn’t understand. Sometimes it takes several years of positive experience to make a lifelong fan, but it only takes one bad experience to turn them away and make them spend their money elsewhere. And the real kicker is, once their gone, in most cases they don’t come back.
Well how do we get the message across to the AD and Pres?
I think HD touched on it in another thread and I have made mention of it in previous years, there is a lost income factor for the local business owners. Some of these business people are bound to have the ear of Les Guice and some of the Mega Donors that support our program. Those are the people who should be encouraged to express their displeasure.
I believe Ruston has a Mayor who understands this and hopefully the City Council also comprehends the amount of revenue lost by not making games an easy to enjoy event. Do you think that shuttle runs from Downtown just for fans convenience? The shuttle runs from downtown for the convenience of the fans and business owners who reap the benefits of those fans shopping downtown. When game attendance gets so bad that there is plenty parking to go around at the stadium, there will not be a need for the shuttle. That will just be another bite out of the City economy if it stops running.
I would not know where Ronny Walker would stand on taking any action on this or if he would. I would like to think there is someone out there who knows if and how much the game day economy suffers when we kill the game day experience we have. The Mayor and Council should be concerned that Actions by the last AD and lack of action by the new AD is costing everyone money. I believe they need to be expressing their displeasure to not only the AD and Pres., but some of them have relationships with some of these mega-donors who could have some influence also. It is much harder to get these people back than it is to do the things that will keep them.
Fans and citizens expressing their concern to Elected officials and Donors may be an avenue that needs to be explored. There is more than one way to skin a cat!
I wouldn’t use Twitter (lol). Direct emails from people should get the conversation started.
Yes, then the east side would be totally empty. The greeks and other student organizations are pretty much the only ones over there.
The new "no readmittance" deal may be related to china virus, but whoever made that decision just added to the already horrible attendance issue. This didn't just start, but it is getting more and more noticeable. We can thank our HC, our former AD, and our President for all the above.
Our new AD had no idea what he was getting into.
The problem isn't the idea of the Young Alumni section. The problem is the atmosphere generated by our previous AD killed off the "passionate students" in The Joe. So once these students graduate and are able to be Young Alumni, they have no desire to buy seats there or anywhere else.
As I said, I was one of those "passionate students" who bought YA seats for a few years. We were basically an extension of the student section back then. It's what the YA section was supposed to be. If we're going to bring it back, Dr. Wood is going to have to make The Joe a place the students want to be and develop the die-hards while they're students.
Does anyone know if the Tech Trolley is still running for game days?
