Gameday tailgating has disappeared

Ok I have a question then. I quit tailgating some years ago when they started the whole 8am thing. The first home game this year there were probably 20 cars parked up of the grassy hill (south of TAC tailgating spot) and this was at about 11am. So I was thinking maybe the rules changed. This past week I was driving down Alabama and had to stop as someone was turning up onto the grassy hill to tailgate. This was about 10:30am. So I pulled up to the officer and the person standing at the entrance to the road that goes by Hideway park and asked can people drive up to tailgate on the south hill again after 8am. They said that there was no time limit to come in to tailgate and that there was no vehicle allowed to tailgate on the grassy area on the North side of the TAC. SO are the vehicles allowed at anytime to tailgate on south side and if not then why were there so many parked up there? Are they just not enforcing? I want to start tailgating again as I cant afford to take my family inside the stadium. After reading on here I am so confused now to if I can.

Unless they have changed things, you can enter the south side of the TAC from Alabama and park along Alabama. Our former AD was tying to limit that parking, so it may have changed since 2019 when I stopped coming over to tailgate after 20 plus years of tailgating.

You CAN NOT enter going toward hideaway park after 8:00AM unless you have a parking pass.

My money doesn't come any easier than yours. My father was a Barber on the town square in Homer for 62 years. I had to pay my own way to Tech because we couldn't afford it as as family. What's your point?

Only if you're done setting up by 8A. OR willing and able to lug several hundred pounds of gear roughly 1/2 mile.

Seems to me that a program of our size needs all the money it can get. So as to sources of revenue... Are they making enough off the $1500+ LTAC folks for those passes, to negate the loss of revenue from people not tailgating at all, coming to fewer games a year, and/or as mentioned by some here the reduced giving, season tickets, etc? Seriously asking.... I know what our hardcore diehard fans numbers are but I don't have a clue where they would all fall in the giving levels.

I would assume our department has studied the financials and are coming out ahead under the currently policy, but it is just as likely that we haven't and/or simple do not care.

Yeah, we wouldn't want to inject some actual FACTS into the "bitching session". It's much easier to bitch than it is to acknowledge the truth.

I'm not here to change people's minds. You people are adults and you can make your own decisions. However, I do want to make sure Tech fans and potential Tailgaters know the facts, and know they can Tailgate and not worry about the bogus 8 AM rule.

Let me ask some serious questions:
_Has there been plentiful amounts of that $3 ice-cold bottled water, the same size of which costs 10 cents at Super1 in a 24-pack?
_Was there plenty of ice available for those desiring it?

If yes to both, then commendations to the concessionaires. The AD hit a home run in getting those issues settled quickly in the baseball playoffs.

It is simple. You can "buy" a parking pass just like everyone else if that's what it comes down to, or you can set up your tailgate in the "free zone" without one. If I was AD, I would make sure I was charging you personally triple for everything. Just because.....

I do appreciate your view point from time to time, but I've run into the get out by 8 am this year...I'm one of those that don't have a RED PARKING PASS. And I won't donate to LTAC until tailgating becomes fun again.

The only way to tailgate in the "free zone" is to setup prior to 8am or haul your stuff from somewhere like Memorial gym if it's after 8am. Both options suck. Most, not all, of the people that use the free zone cant afford donating and paying for parking passes. This is why most my family and I, and most my friends and their affiliated frats quit tailgating years ago. No one wants to have to get there that early. But anyway, I was hoping the rules have changed this year but whatever. Maybe next year but not holding my breath.
