Just remember, YOU ASKED for this:
First:
- 8 of LA Tech's 41 CUSA wins were over a hapless
UTEP program, that everyone in CUSA doesn't get the benefit of playing. UTEP has a record of
23-70, from the time Tech joined CUSA in 2013, thru the 2020 season. That's a
.2473 winning percentage over the last 8 years.
- 6 more of LA Tech's 41 CUSA wins were over an almost equally hapless
Rice program that everyone in CUSA doesn't get the benefit of playing. Rice has a record of
34-61, from the time Tech joined CUSA in 2013, thru the 2020 season. That's a
.3579 winning percentage over the last 8 years.
- 6 more of LA Tech's 41 CUSA wins were over a
UTSA program on the rise, but clearly not developed yet. UTSA has a record of
40-56, from the time Tech joined CUSA in 2013 thru the 2020 season. That's a
.4167 winning percentage over the last 8 years.
So, that's a total of
20 of Skip's 41 CUSA wins coming from these specific,
mostly horrible, football programs at UTEP, Rice & UTSA. Essentially HALF of Skip's CUSA wins are over the 3 perennial losers.
When people want to know why Skip hasn't left LA Tech yet, THIS is the answer! As long as Skip is at Tech, he's know's he's got
guaranteed wins (in most years) from these 3 loser programs and an annual FCS game, already banked. He only has to coach two more wins each season against peer programs like UNT or USM, and he's
automatically bowl eligible.
It's the easiest job in FBS football, and Skip knows it.
I'll hang up and listen.
