I don’t see why UTSA would want to lose associations with Rice, UNT, Tech for Texas State and ULL?
I could see USM and UAB preferring to be in a more regional conference with ULL, USA, Troy.
CUSA sent a formal request to the AAC to merge. Sunbelt would be completely left out if it were to happen. In theory we would get all the goodies but that ain't happening. This is a last ditch effort by Judy to save the conference.
Disdain in sports is part of the fun. I'm not sure our leaders care much about disdain, but fans do.
I was once in the crowd of don't play them at all. That approach didn't work. Other than Southern Miss, we have no rivals in C-USA. No disdain = no fun.
I'm ready for some disdain.![]()
Why on earth would AAC take this deal?
They won't.
If you're selling this, the pitch is that SMU doesn't really get much out of playing ECU/Temple/USF. And vice versa. So why not just play a bunch of local schools (the money won't be any better, but the travel costs and maybe ticket sales would improve)?
But we know about this argument. We've lived this. So we also know how it's likely to go.
Maybe there's something else the ADs & Presidents know, but fans and press havent heard?
Maybe a reliable prediction that the TV revenue bubble is about to burst, and now's the time to re-focus on attendance and travel costs?
But I'm just spitballing here. Unless there's some other shoe to drop, AAC presidents will listen to the pitch as professional courtesy and that'll be the end of it.
At the risk of upsetting JL… This is Very embarrassing
