Yes, and Sam Houston, Jacksonville, and Liberty are only going to get better while we continue to free fall under Holtz. We'd have been fourth AT BEST in the new CUSA this year, losing to UTEP, Sam Houston, Liberty at least. I remember Dr Guice telling us several times in a tour of the new press box, over and over. "I love Louisiana Tech." I love Louisiana Tech." If that's really so, Holtz will be gone, pronto. The abject depths to which we're underperforming is on Holtz, and it can get worse. Dr Guice, the ball's in YOUR court. Do the right thing for Louisiana Tech.

    4. Holtz runs a vanilla offense and refuses to change it.
    5. Holtz is a micro manager who wants to call all the plays himself. He won’t let his coaches coach.
    6. Holtz’s assistants have been up and down. He tends to hire friends who need a job. Sometimes that’s good, sometimes it’s really bad.
    7. Holtz’s own press conferences have been something of a mess this year. He often talks about mistakes he made. This is not a new HC, but someone who has been a HC for 18 years!
    8. Holtz struggles to understand the game at times. UTEP was a perfect example of a team nowhere near ready to play.
For the record, it's now 9 years, not 8. Holtz's team is now out of the running for a CUSA championship in 2021.

BTW, during the UAB game yesterday, Holtz ran the SAME delayed handoff to the right (4 or 6 hole, for those of us who played football) on almost every 1st down snap yesterday. I mean.....COME ON!

I agree. Even the local media doesn't have the freedom we do here on BB&B. In the last 3 weeks I've talked directly to a well known media person in North Louisiana (who will remain nameless for this post) and learned that when they interview a coach or our AD, etc... those interviewees already know in ADVANCE, what questions will be asked --at least in subject matter terms-- BEFORE the interview actually takes place. It's all about "access", and according to this media person I spoke with, it's a tradeoff: You let us interview you, and we'll stay away from controversial subjects.

This means the readers/listeners/watchers/followers are never going to read, hear or see tough questions asked of these people. Get used to it. It's small town media at work.

Where's Dawgfansince65? He was one of those most adamant defenders of Holtz because 8-5 and a bowl game beat 3-9 type seasons, and Bradshaw throwing 14 INTs all in the 1st qtr. Well, we have arrived full circle right back in one of those horrible seasons.

It was blatantly obvious to some of us that Holtz did not have what it takes to lift the program to the level we'd like to be at. Remember this mantra: Is there nothing more? Way back in 2014 I, for one, posted many times, while I appreciate a winning season and a bowl game, it is ultimately meaningful only if it leads to the next level. 8-5 with a bowl win is okay if it is a stepping stone to something greater. It's been VERY CLEAR to some of us that 8-5 is the pinnacle of Skippy's capability. Benefitting from sitting in a region of great high school football, getting good players "just because," and benefitting from playing a weak-azz schedule in a weak conference Skippy stitched together "good enough" to appease the "good enough" crowd.

Well, congrats to all you "good enough" crowd out there. While Skippy has managed the program at a "2014 level" the rest of college football has gotten better and left him, and y'all, far behind.

This could get political really fast. Ya know, with a lamestream media tossing softballs to one political party....but, I won't go there in this thread.

    Carry on!

That’s right. It’s the way of the media scripted world where everything is to create the desired perception. Reality and truth have nothing to do with it. There’s also the angle of not hurting anyone’s feelings. It’s like the matrix in sports. Wake up people you’re being flim-flammed. Holtz is the carnival guy playing the shell with a few stoolies in the crowd trying to keep us playing a losing game while we’re getting our pockets picked. We’re losing every which way we turn.

    OMG! I am sorry.

He and I exchanged PMs sometimes and our "in public" disagreements, well, we were not as at odds as we might have seemed. Yes, we held a different opinion on Holtz, that is true. But his life experiences and mine forged a bond between us. Prayers to his family and friends.

This is the main point for me. He has had a decade to mold this program. We don't have a QB, we don't have a running back, both lines are getting owned, and we have one win over a FBC opponent. The play calling had never been spectacular.

I've been a proponent for Holtz for a while. But it is time to try something new.

Maybe Holtz’s lazy path through the transfer portal isn’t the best way to go. For all of the so called good talent that Tech has come in, it’s not translating very well on the field. Meanwhile whoever we have in recruits are getting little if any playing time. I guess if it keeps up you could have a high school player come to Tech and never play in all his years. We need Bulldog players not transferred whoevers.

This year shows the transfer portal route is a dismal failure....this year, anyway. So many coming in from other disciplines, trying to meld them into our system, just doesn't seem to work. Put in the hard work and recruit high school players from the vicinity. We have always heard that Louisiana and Texas are fertile grounds for recruiting. Take advantage of that like we have before this transfer portal crap.

You’ve made an excellent point. Why are we having to go out and get 19 transfers.

Holtz is lazy and/or can’t recruit.
