I truly think the key in this one was that Tech matched Rice bucket for bucket early, when the game started, and didn't dig themselves a big hole. Rices' last lead was 20-18. Then, you look up at halftime and Tech was leading 44-27.

A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:
Louisiana Tech got back into the win column on Thursday night with an 80-63 victory over Rice inside the Thomas Assembly Center on Karl Malone Court.

UAB wins 68-65 at WKU on another Walker 25-footer with 4.4 left. Loser Saturday at the TAC almost certainly will be in solo 3rd place in West with UAB going to 0-7 Marshall.
This is exactly the type of win we needed after the loss to UAB. We now know we are vulnerable in conference and there is nothing like losing a game to get the team motivated, if used correctly. We were not going to go undefeated - we all knew that. UAB will fall again. They had to really battle last yesterday to pull off the win and I think we are going to be geared up and ready when we play them at their place.
All eyes are on our game with North Texas tomorrow now... We will be ready for a battle!
Played a controlled game last night -
As HD mentioned earlier - we made the easy open shots early that we missed against UAB
Junior could of gone off for 30+ if we would of wanted to keep feeding him, Cobi had a very solid bounce back game in all facets
Thought we didn't defend against the 3 as well as we did against UAB - Rice missed a ton of open looks
Played alot of combos last night
Thomas is still way over his head and in my book Hunter has more upside, but Thomas has got to get tougher and not pull stupid stunts like that T he got - it was blatant and stupid and will get you wrong up every time - there was literally no player within 4 ft of the basket
Green intrigues me - great body, appears to have soft touch but really needs to work on his spacing
Willis is getting better and better off the drive, which is opening up his 3 pt shot
Poppa gives you 15 to 20 hard, tough minutes every night - still a little out of control but he is young
Saturday is a big big game - defending conference champ, most of the team back from the tourney team that won a game in the Dance
