SA is ticked off because this clown show administration is making sure Iran has the funds to continue bombing their oil fields as they wish. I'd be pissed, too. Makes MORE ME war more likely, and will not stop Iran from getting nukes.
"A long time" anyway. We've been involved in regime change over there since the 50s.

I don't think it will, I spoke a bit sloppily there. I do think the dollar's position as such is very precarious at this point. Tagging the ruble to gold is very good for the ruble. It also appears to be encouraging other countries to deal in other currencies between themselves.

Yet SA seems pretty happy to keep accepting US air support to bomb Yemen (an ongoing war crime).

    SA and US foreign policy:

I have not kept up with this thread. Sorry if this has been posted already.

From the BBC on 4/1. It's the story of one elite Russian unit. Their casualties are much higher than what the Russian government has announced, given on what's been posted by their families on social media.

The BBC believes that perhaps, by the end of March, 1/3 of the 1,500 members of the unit have either been killed, wounded or captured.

Could the rest of Russia's forces have similar numbers?

Interesting. I don't believe much of what the BBC is putting out (see this for example, not the BBC but probably not unique to the US) but I do think its reasonable to assume Russia is downplaying their numbers (just as Ukraine is obviously inflating them). One thing I saw was "multiply Russia's number by 2-3 and divide Ukraine's by 10."

One thing is certain.. Russia did not expect anywhere near this type of resistance when they started this invasion. They expected the whole thing to have been wrapped up in a week at the latest.

Yep, in my post #355, I pulled numbers from what I know to be reliable sources but still applied a little sensible extrapolating to arrive at those final numbers. Russia is downplaying and Ukraine is exaggerating the numbers.

Bottom line that everyone can agree on, Putin is getting a rough go of it, quite the bloody nose...

Seems like it would be obvious in hindsight. I didn't know enough about Ukraine 5 months ago to expect it would be a globalist proxy - you would think Russia would understand that, given that that was a huge part of their motivation for invading in the first place.

Or perhaps they did and my perception of how "easy" they thought this would be is skewed. *I* certainly thought it would be quick, but as I said, I underestimated NATO's investment in the region.

So if we are producing lies about Russia, is that Russian disinformation too?

I don't trust ANYTHING that comes out of these weasels mouths. Might as well believe the MSNBC narrative goosey spews on here every day.

That is a misleading tweet. Using lower confidence intel, in some cases, isn’t remotely the same thing as disinformation.

Not disinformation at all. They are just providing manufactured information that intentionally departs significantly from the truth to mislead the consumer of that information.

I guess it all depends what "is" is.

I certainly hope Putin isn't as stupid as NBC thinks Americans are (probably rightly so) because that's a dangerous person to have at the controls of a nuclear state.

Gee, sure glad we don't have that problem!

    Re: Russia

Since Republicans aren’t good at basic inference, I will break it down for you. According to the article:

    1. The message about Russia considering to use chemical weapons was not meant for Americans - it was a message to Putin.

    2. We were reporting things in advance of him doing it to make his false flag operations unsuccessful.

So if you connect those dots… we put that info out there because we thought, based on intel, that he might do it and we were hoping we would deter him from doing it.

The fact that they reported it to deter Putin from doing it means they thought he was thinking about doing it. Disinformation would involve us sharing information that we know isn’t true. But if we knew it wasn’t true, we wouldn’t really be trying to deter anything, right?
