McLeod & Elliott 0-9 at bat tonight... sad
With tonight's win, Tech cannot finish worse than Charlotte. So it is now seeds 2-6. And that could very easily change with a couple of games still in progress.
What can be said now is that if Tech wins tomorrow, it has the #2 seed.
Charlotte scheduled fireworks. Kiss of death.
A big important win. Thank you Ryan for being tough and not letting that ump beat you.
Game time Saturday moved up to 11:00 PM (assuming ET) according to LB. Went right over Teddy's head.
Amazing that LB says he does not pay attention to RPI, but knows all the current CUSA tournament seeding scenarios
Except he doesn't. With UTSA's win over UAB and USM's 17-0 win over MT, Tech will be the 2, 3, or 4 seed depending on tomorrow's results. MT and Charlotte will not be able to catch Tech. But combinations of the other 3 teams could if Tech doesn't win tomorrow.
If Tech wins or FAU loses--Tech is the #2 seed.
If Tech loses:
1) FAU wins with ODU and UTSA losing--FAU #2, Tech #3
2) ODU wins with FAU and UTSA losing--Tech #2, ODU #3
3) UTSA wins with ODU and FAU losing--Tech #2, UTSA #3
4) ODU and UTSA win with FAU losing--Tech #2 (tiebreaker over both), UTSA #3 (head-to-head over ODU), ODU #4
5) ODU and FAU win with UTSA losing--cannot break tie on head-to-head. ODU gets #2 with 2-1 vs USM with Tech and FAU both 1-2, FAU #3 with head-to-head over Tech, Tech #4
6) UTSA and FAU win with ODU losing--FAU #2 (tiebreaker over both), Tech #3 with head-to-head over UTSA, UTSA #4
7) FAU, UTSA, and ODU all win--record against tied teams FAU 5-4, Tech 5-4, UTSA 4-5, ODU 4-5. FAU #2 on head-to-head against Tech, Tech #3 on head-to-head against both ODU and UTSA, UTSA #4, ODU #5.

Probably because he knows that maintaining future job security matters in how his team does this year. To finish ugly will be a bolt font black mark in the judgement book. Following up last years NCAA appearance matters. Even more important than Burroughs’ resume is that this team gets in for the seniors who have played hard to get there.
Saturday's game is rescheduled for 10:00 AM CT.
I suppose I should have said, " He THINKS he knows..."
My point was that weak OOC scheduling can be controlled by the HC and other than the roster, it is about the only thing he can actually control. He knows this and this is why he scoffs at RPI mentions throughout the season.
[QUOTE=PawDawg;1832942]Young hits doubles. He has HR power too, but mostly he is our most consistent hitter across ALL the hitting stats. He is a perfect 3 hole hitter. Yeah, sure when we had Parker Bates, we didn't need Young to be the 3 hole hitter. I am talking about THIS YEAR's team.
And I will say it again, again, and again...a team's overall best hitter, across all of the stats, is the perfect 3 hole hitter. And don't you ever question my baseball knowledge, I haven't forgotten more than you will ever know.
Young is our best threat to steal AND leads in walks, but I'm sure you noticed that with all your baseball knowledge. He is the best lead off batter Tech has ever had. See the records.
Yes, he is an excellent lead off guy. He'd also make a great 2-hole hitter, and 3-hole hitter. Hell! he'd make an excellent 9-hole hitter if he was on a team of awesome hitters! This is not about Young's ability at the plate wherever he bats in the lineup. It's about the needs of the team this year. He is our best OVERALL hitter and Baseball 101 states that is your 3-hole hitter. Period. But YOU said the best OVERALL hitter on a team should be the 2-hole hitter... I actually LOL'd at that stupid comment.
Moving on...
Crigger looked sharp last night. Charlotte can score runs but they looked hapless against his stuff.
Corona is looking really good at the plate for the past month+. Even when he gets behind 0-2 he is protecting the plate, and drove one to the deepest part of the park for a noisy out. I would have Young and Corona batting closer to each other in the lineup right now. If you want Young to lead off, put Corona in the 3-hole, separated by anyone but Matulia. Maybe McConnell.
Burchfield at DH. Whorff starting.

Young singles to center.
Matulia singles to right center. Runners at first and second.
Netterville walks to load the bases.
McConnell grounds to second. Runners at second and third. Tech 1-0.
Corona grounds to third. No advance.
Myers hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Visit to the mound. No change.
Burchfield grounds to short, but Myers is safe at second and Burchfield is safe at first. Review on the play at first. Bang-bang play. Don't see enough to overturn on that replay.
Call stands. Tech 2-0. Charlotte's head complainer is not happy.
McLeod hit by a pitch. Tech 3-0.
Pitching change.
Elliott SLAM to left center. Tech 7-0.
Young grounds to third.
Grounder to Young.
Single to right.
1-6-3 double play.
Tech 7-0 after 1.
