I know the rules of baseball, but that doesn't mean the rule wasn't used against us tonight when the start time could have been earlier, not tarping the field and OM not wanting to make up the last 3 innings when we offered to come up whenever. Also, the game was officially called for poor field conditions..... TECH has every right to be upset. In this instance, the team was collateral damage from all the instances said above and OM hide behind the rule. Plain and simple.
Burroughs says he offered to bring the Dawgs back to finish the game, but Ole Miss essentially said, “Hell no!” I call it SEC chicken shit not too much unlike them not wanting to finish our series last year after we embarrassingly humbled them.

Didn’t they bail last year on game 2 because of injuries?

I still find it werid that the had a Covid related issue but played one game but canceled the second and then played the opening SEC weekend series two days later...https://olemisssports.com/news/2021/3/15/baseball-cancels-wednesday-game-at-louisiana-tech?path=baseball
That article was posted 1 day better the 1st game. It's not on the realm of possibility that OM had an alternative motive.
Sure it is. They were going to play the one game, hopefully win it and leave town to rest their team up for their SEC opener which was far more important than Tech. If they lost one, well no big deal, 2 or 3 SEC wins would make up for that. But risking losing 2 to Tech while also depleting their pitching staff for an upcoming SEC series would be big time stupid for them. Don’t think for a moment that the big programs don’t consider the very best angles for themselves because they absolutely do. Even their early season heavy home game schedules attest to this thinking. Its how they get a head start on winning records, power rankings and rpi.
Watch and see that just like LSU, Ole Miss won’t be scheduling Tech again anytime soon and not too far off will be Arkansas joining their ranks.

With all the posturing by us after this ballgame - they better go out and sweep Northwestern this weekend...
