Travel curfew is at 4:00 PM today. No new inning can start after that time.

Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. Northwestern Series

Immediate jam in the top of the 1st.

Infield single off Smith's hand, and bunt single when Smith got in Corona's way trying to field.
Then a passed ball moves the runners to second and third.
RBI single makes it 1-0 Northwestern with runners at first and third and 1 out.

Nothing new, and this habit must be broken ASAP by Tech. 10th time in 12 games the opponent has scored first, and 8th time that the opponent has scored in the 1st inning.

RBI double to right makes it 2-0 with runners at second and third.
Martinez coming in as an injury replacement for Smith since his pitching hand was apparently dinged up on the first hit that he tried to knock down.

Another double down the left field line makes it 4-0 Wildcats.
Double to right makes it 5-0.
Wild pitch moves the runner to third.
Ground ball out makes it 6-0 Wildcats.

And the nightmare inning finally ends.

Are we warming up properly before the game. This is absurd. Why are we still using the same rotation? The Saturday guy definitely has to go.

Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. Northwestern Series

Northwestern is one of the worst teams in college baseball. This is embarrassing.

Have had several people say we aren’t warming up well.

Martinez getting lit up again in the 2nd.

Leadoff double and single puts runners at first and third with nobody out. Sparks warming up.
Slow grounder to third makes it 7-3. Runner at second.
Stolen base puts the runner at third.
Double makes it 8-3. 5th double for the Wildcats already, 4th off Martinez.
    Single makes it 9-3.

Hook for Martinez. His ERA is now 19.5 (13 ER in 6 innings with a runner still on base).

Sparks gets two outs to snuff the threat.

Think not. Hector's ERA is 4.40. On this staff that is weekend starter material. Easy to see why Martinez has worked his way out of the weekend rotation.

A lot my faith in our success hinged on Martinez being good.

Leadoff walk to Myers forces a Wildcat pitching change.
    Burchfield walks.
Hegwood hit in the elbow to load the bases. Hegwood stays in the game for now.
McLeod double down the left field line cuts the deficit to 9-7 with the tying runs in scoring position and nobody out.
Drost drives in a run and a grounder to second. 9-8 Wildcats.
    Bates walks.
Davis hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Matulia grounds to second, but the game is tied 9-9. Shift prevented a double play that time.
    Corona flies to left.

9-9 after 3. Took 1:40 to play the first 3. At this rate 7 innings may be all we get in.

Hegwood out of the game. No surprise there. Safford in at 2B.
