    Warning!

Posting this here because I want as many people as possible to see this, figure this is the most active forum right now, and the admins can move this to a more appropriate forum later.

Last night my daughter was northbound on I-49 around the Natchitoches-DeSoto Parish line when a truck slammed into the back of her car, then quickly departed the scene. She was driving 75mph, in the right lane, when Bam! she got clobbered. She did not see the truck, as she was not expecting anything like this to happen, and when she got hit her first instinct was to maintain control of the car and guide it to a stop on the shoulder. Once stopped she looked around expecting to see the offending vehicle, but there was none. Other vehicles sped up without stopping to offer assistance. The car is practically totaled, not drivable right now. She was transported to the hospital but was released soon after as she was not seriously injured.

Now, at first, we thought it was just some idiot, maybe drunk, maybe falling asleep at the wheel, maybe texting, a random act of stupidity. And, in this case, it may have been. But! we are learning there have been a rash of such incidents in this region, Louisiana, East Texas, Arkansas, and the State Trooper told me last night this is the second such incident that he has worked this week on I-49. A friend messaged us this morning, after we posted this on Facebook, that her daughter was struck just like this on a Highway near Alexandria just the other night. So, the police suspect this is some kind of "dare" game morons are playing, similar to the one-punch knockout that happened in major cities last year.

    Stay alert!

Wow. That is a crazy story. I am glad your daughter is fine physically. I am sure mentally that was quite frightening. It is amazing what people do for kicks. It is becoming very scary and extremely dangerous. Hope they catch the jerks and make examples with them. Knocking people out and wrecking cars, that’s attempted murder. Whatever happened to toilet paper and eggs?

    Re: Warning!

Several months ago I was just getting into the 75mph zone south of S’Port heading south. I just happened to look in my rear view to see av SUV coming up behind me…FAST! I was in the right lane trying to get up to 80ish. The left lane was packed full of cars going 80 plus. Just as I started moving over to the shoulder to let him by he passed me on the right as shoulder. Then he just went down in the ditch while turning sideways. The next thing I know black unmarked SUVs are on him and he has his hands up while being surrounded. Felt lik a movie except for the feeling really scared part.

I thank God that your daughter was not injured during that terrifying incident. I am amazed that she was able to keep her car under control after being struck from behind while she was doing 75mph. We can only guess at what speed the truck was going in order to inflict that much damage to her car. This event shows us just how uncertain and unpredictable life can be. It should give us pause to consider where our real priorities lie. Perhaps WE shouldn't get so upset about the outcomes of ball games at any level.

    Re: Warning!

A friend saw my post on Facebook and just posted that her daughter experienced the same thing on I-20 east bound out of Shreveport, about 10 days ago. Another person said it appears that women traveling alone are being targeted, because so far most, if not all, of the reported incidents involve a lone woman in the car hit.

BTW, my daughter takes everything in stride. Last night she drove up in a late-model "previously owned" Honda as her car was destroyed and has been totaled. Well, Dad, I needed a car to get to work in, she said. It's very nice, with all the bells and whistles.
