Sources: Both Utah and Arizona State have applied for formal membership to the Big 12 Conference, and there’s a call tonight with the Big 12's presidents and chancellors to discuss their membership. Arizona applied and was approved yesterday.

We all know that poor leadership from the administrations over the past 20 years has caused great damage to the Tech brand! Someone earlier mentioned that we have been too reactive than proactive! For those of you old enough to remember President FJ Taylor, he was very proactive in athletics and facilities! In just the early 80’s alone he built the TAC and intramural complex and the natatorium! I always thought he had a great vision for La Tech! I believe if we had hired another president that had his similar vision we would be playing in a much better conference and our reputation would be much more attractive nationally!!

Couldn't agree more. FJ understood the importance of athletics to the university. Reneau and Guice, not so much.

My apathy has reached new heights. I sincerely hope we have an amazing FB season with a cupcake schedule, or it's the nail in the coffin. Our bowl streak was impressive, but it's no more, and women's bowling ain't gonna get us the brass ring. Hoping Brooke and Hester can at least make some semblance of noise in the conference or Liberty will take every spot we have longed for.

Only answer at this point is empty stadiums and empty coffers. Absent that, sufficient change isn’t possible.

Personally, I think the teams that left for the Big12 and Big10 just wanted to play a few games a year in which the tv audience was measurable. Central time zone kickoff at 7 is seen by whole country. By 7 on west coast many families, including mine, are winding down.

A bazillion dollars and a pretty solid football, baseball, and WBB tradition. They have it all. Good programs, more money than is reasonable, great market, and great education. If all those factors don’t matter, then what does?

Unfortunately in todays crazy football powerhouse driven machine the bigs are going bigger.

I wish the P4 (Big10, ACC, SEC, Big12) would break away and just form a super league independent of the NCAA and the rest of us would just realign according to geography. It’s not worth it anymore.

I have been hopeful for a long time that a complete separation would happen. If they want to “play down” for an easy win, they have to schedule it as a 13th game. Otherwise, all games are against other super conference teams. This should go for all sports.
