I'm not excusing it, but I was curious if there was anything that happened between the two of them prior. Usually these things don't just happen out of the blue. I've noticed that previous games against UTEP had a lot of "extra curricular" activity. On this very play, 54 is blocking 6 and has a hold of his jersey. He sees the runner has passed him and is down and decides to drive 6 into the pile to pancake him. This is well behind the play. Again, I'm not excusing the head stomp and there needs to be severe discipline against him. I'd be interested to go back and watch the whole game and watch the matchup between the two of them.

And don't tell me "play to the whistle" because the rules don't allow for this kind of activity behind the play, either.

I think 6’s conduct is a result of Tech’s soft… hurt-no-one’s-feeling coaching just like all the undisciplined and lacking technique penalties the Dawgs get. It’s bad enough that Tech doesn’t execute their plays very well and then they’ve got to be stupid and selfish too. Sad times…

This is not his first offense. He has been a dirty player all year. If I were the coach I would have cut him as he made it to the sideline. I dont want to be associated with a trashy player who doesnt know any better than that. Nearly every player in the history of football has been able to control their emotions enough not to do that. Anyone who looks for an excuse why he did it just has blinders on. Plenty of players get blocked late or held and dont do something that trashy.

I hope he gets cut. Frankly I hope our coach is gone too. This team has been the least disciplined, low class group of players i have watched in my time watching tech. I love aggression and physical play between the sidelines and until the whistle… but late hits, out of bounds hits, and dirty moves, i have no patience for.

It’s a good thing social media was on the job to help Tech decide what they should do about Randel. It’s too bad though that the social media influencers who probably had never even heard of Tech before the highlight hit their screens, didn’t actually watch the game and have more than likely never spent a penny on Tech weren’t around all those years ago to help influence the administration to do something about Holtz and Tech’s other underachieving coaches. Meanwhile they can end a student athlete’s playing days. I guess second chances only go for people with well know names.
