THEN, our "promotion" peeps cram us full of bowling BS like it really matters. What's worse is that Title IX no longer matters, but the person who is in charge of that kind of thing needs a job, so she (oops) has to feel important. SHE is part of our problem and has been for years.
Kindaaa related in that it would solve the "where the boys and girls play golf" topic, but whatever happened to the Tech golf course? I actually worked there in the late 80s. It was a nice little 9 hole course. I visited it a while back when I was in town and the club house was vacant and in disrepair. And part of the land had a neighborhood built on it. What's the story as to why Tech sold it?

That course (or even Ruston Country Club) would never have worked for the women because "SHE" told Tech that they had to have equal access to all things the men's golf team had access to, which was total BS.

It was sold because the property was extremely valuable and 9 hole courses are not. That's where I started playing golf. Great memories. Almost got struck by lightning there once. Blessed to still be here.

    Whoa! glad you survived that.

But this reminds me of a joke. Golfers are on a course when a sudden thunderstorm blows up, lightning popping everywhere. They run for cover when one of the golfers pulls out a club, a 1-iron, and holds it up like a lightning rod. His buddies yell at him, "What the heck you doing!?" He replies, "Not even God can hit a 1-iron!"

As long as there is money to be made by leveraging "disparate impact," silly things like "reality" have no bearing.

I don’t really see how that is BS.

Listening to Cumbie’s radio show today it was quite disturbing and very telling how many times he said something to the affect of, “I/we should’ve done something different.” Obviously instances such as what he was talking about wouldn’t be so bad if they happened maybe once or twice a game every other game or so, but for him it’s normal a couple of times every half and in every game. I’ll be glad when he finally gets all the weird and stupid mistakes out of his system. That’ll be this weekend, right?

Because that was never the truth. They (Tech) could have formed a golf women's golf team w/out demanding Squire as a home course. Our leadership (who is still in charge of such things) wouldn't have it. It was total BS.

Is there any reason they could not use it outside of not wanting to pay for it?

I was told that the course practice facility and rounds were comped to the men's team, but that Squire could not do the same for a women's team because it would further limit the access to paying members. If true, I totally understand and agree with the decision. At the time Ruston Country Club was still and option.

So now we have a friggin' bowling alley on campus. More "stuff" we didn't need, but it was free (from our tax money).

I used it when I was a student. I actually took Bowling to fill out my hours my last quarter. It was nice to have available at least, otherwise youd have to drive to Monroe to throw a lane.

Bowling access on campus is better than having any golf team at all.

My high school sent the boys and girls golf team to the same country club, its not asking a lot to do it in college. It really isn’t asking a lot for them to have the same access.

My family used to have a membership at Squire Creek. When we played, the course and clubhouse were usually empty. Unless business has exploded, I don’t think making room for paying members is the issue.

My wife asked me "why in the hell do you continue to put yourself through the pain of watching this game?" after the first quarter! Now I'm considering the same after I watched an abysmal program that the future of moving forward is definitely up in the air!

Tech used to have a Women’s Golf team.

This whole Squire Creek thing is a bunch of nonsense. The athletic department is full of lazy asses who figured a bowling team would be the least amount of work for them.
