It’s true, a win is a win and I’m glad the Dawgs persevered even if it the game was mostly USM getting their worst game out of their system. Even scoring 18 runs Tech did a poor job of advancing base runners. I wonder if the boys didn’t treat the time change responsibly? Next up another very compacted week with only 2 rest days between 5 game days. Our pitchers are really going to be put to the test in these two weeks. Right now for this past week at 2-3, I’d grade them a heavy C-. And then there’s Burroughs getting his starting RF player wrong 4 of the 5 games. That’s an indisputable screaming F.

This team was exposed this weekend -

Couldn't do any of the basics when it mattered most

No ONE had a stellar weekend with the glove which really hurt the pitching staff in crucial situations

This is NOT a regional team - a long way from it
    ''Don't be a bad dagh..."

One thing that was fun Sunday if you weren’t there was that at a point after USM had some misplayed balls that helped Tech and near the end of their pitching going way wrong the Tech loudspeakers played this…

At the time it was spot on and absolutely hilarious. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard the Tech stands laughing before the way they did then. It was great.

Much better than, "You've had a bad day" What a stupid song to play when an opposing pitcher comes out after having done a great job.

I'm glad there was a nice moment for the fans. And I am thankful we will (reportedly) continue our series in baseball with weekday games in the future. We're too close of a drive to not play each other.

Road game tonight, then back to another home stand. It's amazing the number of home games Tech is having...thus far. BTW, anyone going to be in Natchitoches tonight? I see we are starting Reed Smith who got bombed by NSU is his start last year, giving up 9 runs in 7 innings to the Demons. That inspires confidence for tonight's outcome...

    Re: Home Stand

This week’s 4 game series against NSU is one that Tech can’t afford to lose any. I don’t care if it’s baseball and any team can beat anybody on any given day. Believing in that is the beginning to losing to a lesser team. To begin with the coach has to set the expectation of how the team will perform. Then in those games when things aren’t going exactly the way they should it’s the coaches responsibilities to spark the team to snap out of it. That’s one area that Burroughs seems really lax in. He doesn’t do anything different from what his normal style is… to just let whatever happens, happen. If someone can describe a game when it was Burroughs’ coaching that snatched victory from defeat I’d be interested in hearing it. In the meantime go Dawgs, beat NSU like you need to. Tech can’t afford to have a state win/lose record like they did last year (6-6) because it’s horrible for RPI and any at large NCAA opportunities. If you can’t win in your own state you’re not going anywhere else.

    Re: Home Stand

It seems rare in baseball that a managers decision completely flips the game from a loss to a win. If you remember, game 7 of Cubs vs Indians, Joe Maddon put Lester on the mound and it easily could have cost the Cubs the WS. However, a coach making a very out of the box move because he has a gut feeling has happened and worked out in the past. Never for Burroughs in my memory.

Getting hammered! NSU 8 Tech 3 still in the 3rd inning. I'm heading home...have had enough of this. Go Dawgs...rally!

For years we have been begging for separation. Well, I think we have it. The gap between us and an athletic department with a pulse is widening.

If I was Southern Miss, I’d want to play us every year too. Easy win
