Ready for some baseball! Cmon dawgs get the sweep!
I just tuned in. Saw the lineup. No Drost and no Safford. That’s a moral victory anyway.
Comeaux had some very good at bats in place of Berch, Drost & Safford. He absolutely needs to continue playing. Tech has got to find some way to keep its opponents from scoring so many runs per game. This 6 game streak of giving up at least 9 runs per game is really dangerous. After tonight’s bad umpiring I think we’re going to be in for a rough weekend. McConnell for one had at least one ball called a strike against him every at bat which cost him his rhythm.
This is starting to look a lot last year. We start every game behind because our pitchers can’t get through 3 innings.
I thought Tech played a good all round game after our starting pitcher change minus a few iffy instances but thankfully nothing totally catastrophic happened. Tech had plenty of hard hit balls that unfortunately went almost straight into NSU’s gloves. Comeaux kept up making good contact he just wasn’t lucky finding any open field. I’m pretty sure that as long as Burroughs doesn’t go silly and put him back on the bench he’ll get his hits. It’s disappointing Tech didn’t try to steal some bases in more of the bunt type situations. It’s almost like we’re afraid of a catcher before we know to be. Oh and giving up just 5 runs is way better than the 9 runs our opponents have been averaging. Good job Dawgs.
Comeaux had some bad luck other than his first at bat. He made one great scoop at 1st that saved us a run or two. Also, him letting the ball hit the ground on the IFR pop up was cool. We got two outs instead of one and it made all the difference in the game.
Did he "let" it? Looked more like he just muffed the catch. It worked out though, regardless. I hate that "infield fly rule" as you might remember we discussed it (okay, we argued it) last year. But if the rule is the batter is automatically out once the ump signals the rule is in effect why does it matter what the runners do? Unless they return to the bag, tag up, and then try to run. But that's not what happened today.
Should the infield fly rule just be a dead ball out? Not advocating for, just asking
