I didn’t get any responses from an earlier post either. Do you guys think another coach would have played primarily small ball with out faster guys? Safford, AD, and Kasten seemed like prime guys to be bunt specialists. Enough attempts and several probably advance a runner and they beat the throw. When we were being knuckle drug in games and couldn’t get things rolling, that probably would have made a difference.

I would of been bunting Safford regularly the entire last month of the season

AD doesn't have the bat control to bunt regularly and tends to get hot in streaks

Furr was good over the last half of the season with pop - I thought he was used correctly

As far as position players next year -

Trey Hawsey will be given every opportunity to win first

Coates will probably be at second

SS juco player (Safford as backup)

    3rd Comeaux

Evans will be given a chance at catcher but have a juco signed

    Left - will be juco

    Center - will be juco

Right - Drost will be given every opportunity to nail it down (Safford in wings)

I don't think I'm wrong on these assumptions

Hey, if we can reload with capable players and shore up the pitching, we will be right back here with another shot. I hope it goes that way.

    Me too -

    Got several pitchers signed -

I see where Harmon is playing on the Beaumont collegiate team this summer

And Nichols is going to the Cape Cod League

I think Nation has earned a shot as a possible weekend starter with his performance this last month of the season and a 5-0 record as a mid week

Conference gets tougher next year as it should - I expect due to the youth and newness of next year's team the schedule maybe dialed back a touch - I know that Grambling makes an appearance (can't be worse than Northern Colo) back on the schedule and we have ULM at home for 3 and got to NWSt for 3 - conference slate goes to 27 games next year (so it will be unbalanced unless something changes) and finally back to 30 the next

I think 35 wins would be a big stretch right now but baseball is a funny sport could win 25 or could flirt with 40

    Re: NCAA Fayetteville Regional

Here is Tech’s current team going into 2025. You can study the stats for yourself to see the reality of where our players are historically and how they compare. Fielding wise we’re in serious trouble with a surprising number of players who have been here but haven’t seen the field. It makes one wonder why that is? Could very well be the long running thing regarding Tech’s coaches being unable to develop players. They could show up with skills and play or they waste away on the bench. It also makes one wonder if Burroughs shouldn’t have already cut some players loose after last year… Berch, Drost & Safford being that they’re not improving, probably won’t and are taking up roster spots. One of Tech’s biggest issues is that they don’t run their program to be as successful as possible as they do not to hurt people’s feelings. This applies to coaches and players.

    Fielders:
Berch, Sr, Inf (played very little in 2 yrs, played less in 2024 than 2023)
    2022: AB 37, Avg .270, OB .333, SLG .351, RBI 1, HR 0, 3B 1, 2B 1, SO 20/54%, W 4, HBP 0.
    2023: AB 17, Avg .235, OB .235, SLG .235, RBI 1, HR 0, 3B 0, 2B 0, SO 13/76%, W 0, HBP 0.
    2024: AB 11, Avg .091, OB .167, SLG .091, RBI 1, HR 0, 3B 0, 2B 0, SO 4/36% , W 1, HBP 0.

Drost, Sr, Of (played about ⅙ of 2024, played less in 2024 than 2033 with poorer stats)
    2023: AB 200, Avg .205, OB .331, SLG .405, RBI 31, HR 10, 3B 1, 2B 7, SO 75/37%, W 35, HBP 3.
    2024: AB 43, Avg .186, OB .327, SLG .279, RBI 4, HR 1, 3B 0, 2B 1, SO 17/39%, W 7, HBP 2.

Evans, Jr, Inf/C (played very little in 2 yrs, played less in 2024 than 2023)
    2023: AB 39, Avg .205, OB .233, SLG. 410, RBI 11, HR 2, 3B 0, 2B 2, SO 12/31%, W 2, HBP 0.
    2024: AB 34, Avg .176, OB .317, SLG .294, RBI 4, HR 1, 3B 0, 2B 1, SO 4/12%, W 6, HBP 1.

Safford, Sr, Inf (played about ½ of 2024, played less in 2024 than 2033 with similar unimpressive stats)
    2023: AB 144, Avg .208, OB .329, SLG .382 RBI 17, HR 3, 3B 0 ,2B 16, SO 37/28%, W 21, HBP 6.
    2024: AB 131, Avg .198, OB .329, SLG .389, RBI 24, HR 7, 3B 0, 2B 4, SO 37/28%, W 22, HBP 5.

Comeaux, So, Inf (played about ¾ of 2024)
    2024: AB 199, Avg .261, OB .329, SLG .342, RBI 28, HR 3, 3B 0, 2B 7, SO 53/27%, W 10, HBP 12.

Alonso, Fr, Of (hasn’t played in 2 years)
Netterville, So, Inf (hasn’t played in 2 yrs)
Smith, L, So, Of (hasn’t played in 2 years)
Sturiale, Fr, Of/P (hasn’t played in 2 years)
    Brown, So, C (didn’t play in 2024)
Coates, Fr, Inf (didn’t play in 2024)
Guinn, So, Inf, Of (didn’t play in 2024)
    LaRocca, So, C (didn’t play in 2024)
Patterson, So, Of (didn’t play in 2024)
Smith, J, So Inf (didn’t play in 2024)
Snider, So, Inf (didn’t play in 2024)

There are some pitchers with potential coming back. What’s key is that Fouts not be here next year to mess them up. In all honesty Harland needs to move on, he’s taking up an important spot just like he did this year.

    Pitchers:
Copeland, Sr (essentially the same from 2023 to 2024)
    2023: IP 21.1, ERA 5.91, W/L 1-0 , B/Avg .313, SO 19, W 10.
    2024: IP 29.2, ERA 7.58, W/L 3-2, B/Avg .311, SO 31, W 14.

Fraginals, Jr (didn’t play in 2024)
    2023: IP 19.1, ERA .978, W/L 1-1, B/Avg .342, SO 11, W 12.
    2024: 0

Harland, Sr (played ½ as much in 2024 to 2023, stats were worse)
    2023: IP 55.2, ERA 5.98, W/L 0-5, B/Avg .306, SO 27, W 13.
    2024: IP 26, ERA 8.65, W/L 0-0, B/Avg .299, SO 22, W 13.

Havern, Jr (didn’t hardly play in 2023, improved in 2024)
    2023: IP 4, ERA 22.5, W/L 0-0, B/Avg .474 SO 1, W 6.
    2024: IP 27.1, ERA 4.61, W/L 3-3, B/Avg .264, SO 28, W 13.

    Crider, Sr
    2024: IP 15.1, ERA 4.70, W/L 3-0, B/Avg .236, SO 13, W 8.

    Hooks, Sr
    2024: IP 32, ERA 5.06, W/L 1-0, B/Avg .268, SO 30, W 17.

    Nation, Sr
    2024: IP 39, ERA 4.15, W/L 5-0, B/Avg .284, SO 37, W 12.

    Nichols, Sr
    2024: IP 78.2, ERA 4.46, W/L 4-4, B/Avg .249, SO 82, W 29.

    Swistack, Sr
    2024: IP 53, ERA 7.98, W/L 5-3, B/Avg .315, SO 53, W 17.

Toal, So, P (hasn’t played in 2 years)
Porche, So, P (hasn’t played in 2 years)
    Melby, Jr, P (didn’t play in 2024)

Fraginals is already in the portal

More and more with all the ‘who are they teams’ playing so well and even when they get beat they are competitive it makes me wonder what’s so wrong with Tech that when it comes down to it we can’t even represent ourselves well? Really, how is it that Tech, Tech’s it up? We had some players, they know how to play… so why can’t we do better historically? It has to be something systematic. Even now ULL is putting in to Texas 6-1. Tech could never do that.

DBU is out. Lost to Grand Canyon 12-10, blowing an 8-3 lead. All four Belt teams are still alive and playing.
