    Re: Skip

I'm happy for Skip. I always liked him on a personal level and always said he was a "good" coach. I also posted here during his time I was glad for the bowl wins, and I attended all those within driving distance. The issue with Skip was "is there nothing more?" Skip's last two seasons here were 5-6 and 3-9, and so his string of 9-win seasons and the bowl wins was already history when he was canned. Question: would I take Skip Holtz back now at Tech? Nope!

Coach Crummy is the worst coach I have ever seen at Tech, and one of the worst I have ever seen...period. He is horrid! But just because we "teched up" with this bad hire doesn't mean it was a mistake to sever ties with Holtz. What is needed now is to find a coach. One who would look at a 9-win season and a win in a minor bowl as nothing more than a steppingstone to better things to come. Holtz thought winning the likes of the Frisco Bowl as reaching the peak.

So, Skip is successful and content where he is today? Good for him.

Skip kind of told on himself in the article:
"I was ready for a change," Holtz said. "I was looking for something that excited me. And like I said, I had three or four people call me once I was released at Louisiana Tech. But none of those excited me to go do Group of 5 football again. I'd been doing that for the last couple of years, and it just didn't excite me."
He as much as admits he had lost his excitement for the job here. There's no reason to keep someone around if they don't want to be here and aren't excited about coaching the team.

His lack of "excitement" was obvious in the way he played not to lose, but lost anyway. The losses he brought on our team and our fans were worse than what Bicknell did in his last two years at Tech. The Mississippi State loss was the final straw for me. NOBODY can defend that idiot for losing that game.

Skip is a POS that quit on Tech a year before he was fired. If he was burned out/frustrated he should have done the honorable thing and quit.

Tech admin has a role in this debacle. I’m sure Skip’s frustration stemmed from an admin that does everything half ass or just enough to get by.

Oh wait, Skip's last two seasons were 5-6 and 3-9. So much for your "6-win floor."
