    H1B abuse

Wow, things must be pretty dire at Tech if we can't find a single American to be an *checks notes* Assistant Professor of English.

Hopefully Trump sticks to the radical idea that America should be for Americans. Deep stuff, I know.

Admittedly, I am not up to date on this matter. So, I will have to do some research on it. In the meantime, I hope those of you knowledgeable on this will chime in.

Now, based on what I do know, I am surprised Musk would be making an issue of this. His high-tech companies from Tesla to Spacex and the others are dependent on highly skilled engineers, and Musk's companies are international in scope. So, I would have thought he'd be in favor of granting work visas to "foreign" engineers as needed. If you want more Americans hired, then make that effort. But I cannot see why Musk, or any American corporation, would want to arbitrarily limit their potential talent pool.

But, I am open to all opinions on this. So, please, sound off!

There has been a pretty big dust-up recently about this because Musk is using H1-B and similar programs to undercut American wages (while pretending he wasn't). And in Musk's case, preaching about strengthening America's economy and our people. Talking out of both sides of their mouth.

Someone doesn't understand how the H1B process works...you don't get to undercut wages. In fact, it is my experience that these folks are paid at a higher rate than a local provided there are qualified locals.
I'm an asshole! What's your excuse?
