This has been tough for us all year but we have broken through on some. Hopefully, we keep this going!!!!! Plus, we may get our PG back for this one!!! On a side note, I was surprised to see Rutgers in the WNIT this year. I haven't kept up with them so unsure what they are going through. They are on the other side of the bracket and would be a fun one to match up with if we both could get to the final game.Originally Posted by dawg80

I hope so, because our turnovers are hard to watch. She will help with that. It was better in the last game but still not good at all.
I don't know about now as I have quit following women's basketball at the national level since the Techsters have fallen out, but back in the '80s Illinois State had a pretty good program. I remember Cathy Boswell, their All-American, very well. Will be interesting to see if they have fallen as we have.
Most likely since they are in the WNIT too.
They look decent by their schedule but don't have any signature wins. The only common opponent I can find is New Mexico State and Illinois State beat them handily. This will be a tough match up for us on the road. They are pretty guard oriented with their top scorer being Dowell (5'9"guard) and another guard being second. We will need our post players to have great games and REALLY get control of our turnovers.
Turnovers? The Techsters must think they are those pastries, that come on various flavors. We'll take two dozen turnovers, please. Have them delivered to the arena tonight.
If ISU has good guards, then our season ends tomorrow.
They are a solid team we are faster than they are and have more height. I don't think they can take us off dribble but they will try to drive and kick.
They fell apart against ACU press in 4th qtr but were able to make free throws to close it out.
If the Techsters eliminate the stupid, unforced errors, turnovers, and actually were aware of situations, and made layups, and 70%+ free throws, no stupid fouls either...well, then Tech could beat most teams in the nation. Only those squads more talented, like those who reached the Elite Eight, and some others, would be beyond reach most nights. But alas, that is NOT the Techsters. They have played 33 games and continue to make stupid mistakes, mental lapses. Sometimes it looks like they have never played basketball before.
Can we beat ISU tomorrow? Of course, absolutely. Illinois State is nothing special. But, the Techsters have to look like they know what Division I hoops looks like.

Keys for a Techster win:
Eliminate half the turnovers
Defend the three
Inside game has to be spot on to get them off guarding outside shooters (Isla and Aaron have to have monster games)
Drive inside and draw fouls
On Defense guard the three and don't let them kick it out and lose the real shooter.
They are not as athletic, but shoot better from the three spot than they do from the two. I think they are around 53% from 3. if our guards can defend outside with their height, we can win this. If we turn the ball over like we have been and they get outside looks, we are toast. Having our PG back should help a LOT with the turnovers.

Refs didn't slaughter us in the 2Q
Been a while since I've watched any Tech games in any sport and honestly I forgot how interesting it is to see exactly how we're going to embarrass ourselves this time. Never the same and yet always the same
They just broke their 3pt record. Amazing
They shot the ball very well. They shot actually better against ACU.
We missed not having our PG but they played hard and now time to look towards next year.
We need a solid shooting guard that can come in and contribute immediately.
