I was worried about this one. Great home crowd that made momentum difficult for us. We fought hard and, in my opinion, have improved a LOT since the beginning of the season. We have some awesome freshmen that continue to grow in the game and this experience was so needed. Getting to the final 8 of the WNIT is SO much better than usual over the past 10 years. I hope we can keep these players and add a couple more shooting guards. Compared to the last 10 years, this was an amazing year!!!! Maybe we can get back to the NCAA with these young players next year.
If, big IF, all eligible players stay, then Techsters need a PG, who can score, and a "Caitlin Clark" type shooter, like ISU's Knudson, for instance. Smart, dependable shooter from the arc, high FT% and simply NEVER hurts the team with bonehead plays. Techsters also need a more athletic "big". A forward, about 6'0" or so, who can run the floor, shoot mid-range jumpers, shoot a high FT%, and frickin' rebound on both ends. Also, the bean pole Avery needs to put some muscle on those bones. All of this combined with each returning player improving their game, getting smarter on the floor, points to a return to the Dance.
So what everyone is saying is we just need everyone to stay.... and continue to improve (reduce turnovers, rebound better etc.).... then add a PG with Clark like shooting prowess, more height in the forward/post position with better ball handling skills, rebounding, and a solid consistent shot, plus bulk up a couple of our current players... Then hope that all our opponents basically remain the same as they were this year, in the portal age and NIL, and we are in........ We got this!!![]()
I think Aaron is the type of forward people are wanting. She is something very special and just played half the year as a freshman. I think you are talking about Isla Airey needing to put on some weight. Avery Aaron has a very athletic build. Her style reminds me some of Pam Kelly but is early in development.
A PG is our biggest need, along with a 3 point ace.
Yes, the tall Aussie, needs to "muscle up" some.
Nell Fortner retired (Georgia Tech)...wonder if she could be enticed to serve as a special consultant for our Techsters. Couldn't hurt.
