    Re: Russia

More small gains by the Ukrainians the past 24-36 hours. Nothing major.

The bigger news is a report that Trump is growing tired of Putin's bullshit. If this is true, then Putin is toast. Putin's regime and his pathetic army have been on life support for many, many months, and Trump threw him a lifeline. But, according to some sources, usually reliable, Sec. of State Marcus Rubio said Putin's violations of the ceasefire agreement(s) has put his status in jeopardy. All kinds of so-called "news" has begun flowing out of pro-Ukraine sources, most of which is not confirmed by official White House sources. So... The single biggest "report" is that the US is sending "hundreds" of F-16s to Ukraine! Ah, no. For one thing the US does not have "hundreds" of F-16s to spare. Actually, the US has sent exactly ZERO F-16s to Ukraine so far. European nations have supplied all of the F-16s Ukraine currently has.

I HOPE and PRAY Trump gets on the right side of history in this matter. Probably the only way that will happen is if Putin is stupid enough to "insult" Trump and bruise his ego. And Putin is stupid enough, proud enough, to make that mistake.

China just issued an official "warning" stating if NATO becomes actively involved in the Ukraine war, then they will send troops to support Russia. Good, would love to slaughter a bunch of Chinese Chinks!

Well, of course, that all depends on what Trump would do. You know, he and Xi are bosom buddies.

    Re: Russia

Putin murders 9 children, also killed 9 adults and dozens injured. A Putin Shahed drone struck a children's playground in a deliberate terrorist attack. There is no question this was no accident. The Shahed drones are very, very, very accurate as they can be steered onto any target within meters of the intended target. This drone had not been damaged by some anti-drone hit which might have caused it to veer off course. The small town, where this attack occurred, is a rural community located more than 40 miles from any Ukrainian military site or some important infrastructure. This was deliberate, this is a terrorist act of murder, plain and simple.

Witnesses say the drone circled over the town, twice, seeking a target. Local police were called and they responded but the drone was too high for small arms to take it down. Then suddenly, without warning, the drone nosedived straight into the playground, exploding a 100-pound warhead packed with shrapnel. One video shows a car parked more than a 100 yards away from the playground with a hole in it as a piece of shrapnel hit it. Most of the murdered children were torn to pieces, not even recognizable by their own parents. More are expected to die from the severe wounds sustained.

    How can anyone defend Putin?

    Re: Russia

Ukraine took out another of Putin's ammo factories. Great video shot by local Russians in the town near the now defunct plant. You can hear the drones coming in, and Russians stepping out into the street. In the distance...it was very dark...you could make out the smokestacks and the outline of the plant. They knew where the drones were headed. You even hear a woman say, "drones," and a man reply, "yes and our guys can't stop them." Then you hear gunfire and see tracers going up, but none of the drones are hit. Ukraine sent 8 long-range drones all carrying at least a 250-pound warhead and all 8 struck the plant...kaboom! The plant produced 30,000 tons of ammo, of various types, annually. Not anymore. The explosions continued for hours as the flames reached stored ammo in the plant's warehouse.

In daylight video, shot by a Russian TV station from a helicopter, the smoldering ruins of the plant is seen. Not much left to the facility. No reports of injuries as the plant did not operate at night, so no workforce was present. But, I suppose that workforce is now out of a job!

Add this one to the list. Ukraine attacked Putin's only fiber optic plant in the city of Saransk. Drones struck the plant during the night, waiting on video to reveal the amount of damage. Hopefully it has been put out of production.

His info comes from various sources. As for the equipment, this is ALL Ukraine manufactured drones and their own Neptune missiles that are striking deep inside of Russia, plus some UK and French-built cruise missiles. Only the UK and France has the balls to authorize the use of their cruise missiles in attacks inside Russia.

Back to Ukraine's info sources. Much was said about Trump cutting off US intelligence, for about a week, which he did. It is true Ukraine was using shared US intelligence and when Trump suddenly cut it off, for about a week, Ukraine was caught by surprise. But now Ukraine has largely replaced that intelligence, thanks to Turkey and Germany mostly. The US has the best intelligence in the world, and the world has largely depended on it in all kinds of situations. But, just as Taiwan, Japan, and Australia has said, with Trump in the White House the world can no longer trust the US as an ally. They are right.

This is another self-inflicted wound the GOP is famous for. Trump is now your typical RINO...well, maybe not a RINO per se... but he has created a situation which will cost the GOP politically and none of it was necessary or helpful.

    Re: Russia

More on Ukraine's intelligence sources. I have posted many times about anti-Putin factions operating in Russia who have cooperated with Ukrainian intelligence and special ops. These Russian citizens HATE Putin and his regime and want to bring him down. To think that Ukraine does not know/did not know about Putin's important infrastructure, his factories, is silly. They have always known about the major plants, the big ammo dumps, etc. But only recently have they had the weapons that can reach 1,000+ miles inside of Russia. Nothing the US has supplied is capable of that.

We could! Just ask the Houthis about how the US can "reach out and touch you." But the US has never, not under Biden, and certainly not under Trump, provided that kind of capability to Ukraine.

Bottom line is Ukraine has become independent, and their military industrial complex is growing. Taiwan is getting closer to being self-sufficient. This is all a good thing, right? I mean who cares if the US stops being the #1 innovator in military technology. What can possibly go wrong?

    Re: Russia

Duh! wonder what took so long? Ukrainians have recently trained and armed its soldiers, especially artillery crews, with the good ole semi-automatic 12-guage shotgun, with #4 shot. For what? To take down attacking Russian drones, of course! I know some Louisiana duck hunters who could wreak havoc on drones. Especially on the fiber-optic drones which are immune to electronic jamming but that are much slower and generally fly lower than the independent FPV drones. Just watched a video of a Ukran 155mm artillery battery firing away at distant Russian targets. And for each gun there are at least three shotgun toting soldiers guarding against a drone attack.

Both sides have experimented with more sophisticated methods, with varying results. Germany and Sweden have been developing anti-drone weapons, something akin to a Gatling Gun, again with mixed results. The US Navy, and other navies, employ the Phalanx Gatling Gun system to protect ships from incoming missiles/drones. The USS Gravely just shot down 3 Houthi Shahed drones in the Red Sea. But navy ships are very expensive and warrant such expensive defenses. Hard to translate that technology into protecting individual tanks or artillery batteries. Ukraine has experimented with shotgun toting drones as "hunter drones" to take down Russian drones. And, it has worked...in a limited way. The problem is not the shotgun, but rather simply being able to deploy enough such "hunter drones" on the modern battlefield where literally many hundreds, sometimes thousands of drones are up at a time.

Sometimes the simple solution is the best solution. The good ole 12-guage shotgun in the hands of a skilled "hunter" can go a long way to taking down attacking drones.

Unusual, to be sure. And that is the saddest part of this. Thanks to Trump the US has surrendered its place as the BIG DOG on the porch. At least in this situation.

Ya know, and you can look back on the record, I absolutely praised Trump's foreign policy in his first term. It was brilliant and got great results. Why he has, thus far, done a 180 is disappointing. Sure, he can flip it around again, and he might. Typical of Trump his mind, and thus his policies, are sometimes all over the place. And...this is VERY important, so pay attention...Trump also purposely says BS things to throw the opposition off course. Many of us "Trumpsters" are hoping that is what he is doing now. But, unfortunately, he is also damaging the US's place in world standing so if this is his ploy, he needs to stop and get back on course.

    Re: Russia

"The town is cursed!" so says one Russian commander, speaking about the village of Bilohorivka. This town sits about 15 miles from the Russian border and in March, 2022 Russia launched a major offensive in this area, seeking to take the city of Siversk, an important city in Donbas. It is 8 miles west of Bilohorvika, so that village has to be taken first. But for more than 3 years now, Russia has been unable to take the village. Russian forces are literally just across a drainage ditch within a stone's throw of houses in the village, which of course, really no longer exists as 3 years of artillery strikes, drone hits, and fighter-bomber strikes has leveled the place. The rubble created from the buildings/houses and the basements and connecting tunnels has created a great defensive position for the Ukrans. It has surprised even the Ukrainian defenders they have been able to hold the line here, even as Russian forces have advanced further west north and south of this area. Bilohorvika has become the "Bastogne" of this war. Against all odds and conventional wisdom, somehow Ukraine still holds the village. Russians have suffered at least 5,000 KIA and another 10,000 wounded/captured just trying to take this tiny village.

The town is indeed "cursed" for the Russians. Good stuff!
