Tech to SBC?

It's posters like this dude and crap like this which is part of the reason I want no part of the Belch. There are other reasons, but I don't want to be exposed to the petty, high schoolish nonsense of posters from ULL, ulm, even Arkansas State. The old Southland Conference days are done, gone forever. I prefer to associate with programs and fans from schools like Liberty, WKU, and the others, plus Delaware and Mo State now. Are these programs (football, basketball, baseball, etc.) better than those in the Belch? Who cares! the biggest redeeming quality of these schools/fans is THEY ARE NOT BELCHERS!

Note: there are schools in the Belt I have no issues with, led by USM. But we all know who will be camped out on our boards.

So, I am guessing that no Texas State PAC12 announcement by now means a no go for TSU. It seems as if the pac12 landed a decent tv deal and that kills TSU’s chance.

I am betting it is Memphis football to PAC12 and rest of their sports to BigEast….then Tulane will follow Memphis.

It’s still a go. They must have one more all sports member- can’t be football only. They just announced a media deal with CBS yesterday, so the 8th member will be announced soon. Then the dominos fall.

When Louisiana Tech is referred to as Louisiana Tech everyone in Louisiana knows exactly what university that is. Your university, for some strange and insane reason, wants to use Louisiana. LOUISIANA WHAT? I love your RAJUN CAJUN mascot. It is very unique to ULL and isn’t suitable to any other. But to use LOUISIANA as if ULL is the only university in the state is stupid.

Well, that is apparently an LA Tek problem, because everyone else around the country knows that Louisiana is the Ragin Cajuns. There are only two University of Louisiana's "at" within this State and one has branded themselves as ULM and the other has branded themselves as LOUISIANA. It's really not that hard to understand, but then I realize we are dealing with Ruston fans here.

Dude, Louisiana has not started the crap, you guys have! Our University has specifically indicated how we want to be referred to "athletically" and it you guys who refuse to follow those guidelines. So if you want to point fingers, just ;look in the mirror.

There are pros and cons to moving to the 'belt.

An obvious downside would be dealing with the online fanbases of some of SB schools. We don't really have that with the current crop of CUSA schools - but that's probably mostly because neither Tech (online) fans nor the online fans from the other current CUSA schools care about each other much at all. Which is a different problem.

i for one am totally okay with calling ull "ul" or "louisiana" as long as they are willing to call us "Louisiana Tech University: the Flagship of the University of Louisiana System" or, if that's too long, simply "daddy"

@PeteThamel: Sources: Texas State officials have informed the Sun Belt that they are expecting an offer from the Pac-12 in the near future. The talks between Texas State and the Pac-12 have intensified in the last 24 hours.

I'm hoping one way or another we stay put for now. CUSA could take measures to make travel more agreeable. In basketball just go to New Mexico every other year. Play two games there one year - say Thursday and Saturday - and then play them twice here the next year. Winning regular season titles are meaningless so don't take traditional home and away traditions so seriously.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there's a much bigger exit fee in the Belt. We don't want to have to contend with that when we have an opportunity to get back in a conference with Rice, UNT, and Tulsa, again.

I hope we stay put in CUSA. Which, since I rarely get what I hope for, means we will be Belt bound. The powers-that-be will probably kowtow to local pressure, political pressure, justifying the move based on travel savings or some such reasoning. Bottom line this will be, for some of us, we have come full circle, essentially back to where we started from, the old Southland Conference. What's next, reviving the silly State Fair Game vs. the NSU Demons!?
