They will formally announce it at a press conference sometimes Wednesday
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
Okay...I have vented and ready to move on. I LOVE IT! Bring on those matchups with ulm and Arkie State!![]()
This is my OPINION, nothing serious, but I find "LOUISIANA" a little on the ego side, not pride. I am endeared by "CAJUN," like OLE MISS, not MISSISSIPPI. It really isn't an earth-shaking thing. No need to get into weeds about it. The world has bigger issues.
Does that make sense?
Good post. It feels good to finally be a part of something much better for LA Tech athletics because our athletic administration was PROACTIVE instead of reactive for once. No doubt, this is a great move for LA Tech athletics, both financially (long term) and competitively. And our guys seized the opportunity when Texas State announced they were leaving the SBC for the PAC conference. No holding the bag for everyone else this time.
This move to the SBC should serve as a nice catalyst to boost our athletic programs back to the traditional top where they belong. (I still think we need to fire Sonny Cumby too) After being abandoned in the WAC and later again by most of CUSA, I welcome this proactive change.
I don't how he did it, but hats off to LA Tech's new Athletic Director Ryan Ivey, and his crew. For years nobody else could do this. But Ivey did it after only a year and a half on the job. Obviously Ivey had Tech well positioned with the Sunbelt West schools and already had a strategy in place to drive this thing to approval by the SBC. I love a "deal" like this. If you're a Tech fan, you've GOT to respect that.
LA Tech Accepts Invitation to Join Sun Belt Conference - LA Tech Athletics
We haven't caved to naming conventions ... yet
- Louisiana Tech has been league members with six of the current Sun Belt Conference institutions – ULM (1982-87 Southland Conference), Arkansas State (1991-01 Sun Belt Conference), UL-Lafayette (1991-01 Sun Belt Conference), Marshall (2013-22 Conference USA), Old Dominion (2013-22 Conference USA), and Southern Miss (2013-22 Conference USA)
- Six Sun Belt Conference members are within a seven-hour driving distance of Louisiana Tech's campus – ULM, UL-Lafayette, Southern Miss, Arkansas State, South Alabama, and Troy
I can see my sarcasm was not lost on you...
But, since you asked, I don't see any difference between ulm/Arkie State and Delaware/FIU insomuch as none of them are anything to shout about and they have their pros & cons. The real point is we are willingly returning to from whence we came. That was the real point of my comment.
If we don't, what is the point? Might as well cancel the inagural football season in the Sun Belt if we trot Cumbie out there for year 5. The combination of Cumbie and Judy's mid week scheduling has just about totally killed what football program we once had. The Sun Belt and it's rivalries could be a lifeline for us, if we admit a mistake and start over ASAP in football. We will get our clocks cleaned and thoroughly embarrassed otherwise. He couldn't compete vs FCS schools in cusa in year 2-3 with more resources than ever.
We are going to get our behinds handed to us in SBC football. The previous poster is correct, Judy and Cumbie have tanked our once proud program.
I can’t believe that this once promising athletic program is here…at the door of the SBC…we had so many leaders ruin what could have been an amazing 40 years…..we had it in the palm of our hands and let it all slip away.
Our LSU AD was a complete failure.
Our political appointment AD was a complete failure.
Those two hires killed us.
At least we tried and went with the WAC. Most SBC teams will never have the opportunities we did…so there is that.
As the dynamics of college athletics change, the SBC is the correct place for us. And unless our fundraisers come up with millions and millions of dollars (student fees), the SBC world will leave us behind as well.
How are they in Bowling? That seems important to our admin so they must be really good.![]()
