Our schedule is incredibly weak. I know LSU is first, but USM might turn out to be the second-best team we face all year. WKU is pretty good, as is Delaware. But Washington State sucks big time and that is a very winnable game even on the road. UNT smoked WSU 55-9. Right now, our next opponent, UTEP, is getting smoked by ulm. CUSA is very, very weak.
But, the defense can only do so much. They are bound to have at least one WTF game, and maybe another sub-par game due to fatigue! The offense has to come out for the 2nd half too.
Any "W" is a good "W" especially against USM.
Go Dawgs!
Our defense is the real deal. I thought our offense was very decent in the 1st half, but it looked like we just put it in cruise control for the whole second half. We can't just depend on defense and stop playing aggressively.
Yes. Like with Holtz, we didn't "step on their neck". Using the RPO in the 4th quarter when it was being read EVERY play was crazy. Take the option away from the QB or risk losing him with an injury.
It seemed that our HC took the play calling away from Franklin at halftime.
Why don"t I feel great about beating the Mustard Buzzards? The answer is, that second half brought back too many memories of the last 6 years! We go into the locker room at half and decided to become a totally different team.....both defensively and offensively, although the defense was shaky in the passing game in the first half as well.
Not to be any kind of comfort, but NLU pulled a Tech last night as well. They bombed in the second half against UTEP after being in control and almost lost! We need Gary Crowton back!
I'm convinced that when it was obvious that LA Tech was going to win, Sonny Cumby decided to make the game as ugly as possible so Tech fans couldn't enjoy it and won't want to come back. I'm telling you, it was THAT UGLY in the 2nd half. I think we had 6 straight punts?. Folks, that's ugly!
Tech has a political correctness problem in beating people as soundly as possible and it really does go back into Holtz’s time. I think it’s intentional in order to not hurt peoples feelings. The powers at be seem to be more concerned about relationships than just being the absolute best that Tech can be. What other explanation is there for all the games when Tech was doing so well and then mysteriously they weren’t and the games that were essentially won until they were lost in the end in the most inexplicable was?
