    Once or twice, #80, but not Finley that I recall. Looks like UTEP had Finley as a marked man. Or, maybe Franklin over-thought it and figured they would so he game planned Finley as a decoy.

    Whatever the truth our offense was pathetic last night. Four turnovers too. Hopefully just a WTF game for the O.

    I still like to believe that if anyone can make an Offensive out of what we’ve got — Tony Franklin can.

    I'll be shocked if we beat WKU this year. They have been good lately, are looking for revenge, and we kind of have a semi-rivalry with them. 9-3 or 10-2 is looking quite possible though with this weak schedule.

    LA Tech's Offense Against UTEP:

    RUSHING:
    Yards Rushing = 95 yds on 42 carries
    Average = 2.3 yds

    PASSING:
    Yards Passing = 18 of 26 for 137 yds, 1 TD & 1 INT
    Yards Passing =

    TOTAL OFFENSE:
    Yards = 232
    Plays = 68
    Average = 3.4 yards

    Turnovers = 4 (QB Blake Baker fumbled twice and was intercepted once. )

    LA Tech Offensive Coordinator Tony Franklin needs to take some meds, because these offensive stats are a sign of a very sick football offense. This team is hard to watch offensively. It's just so unnecessary.

    Offense does well if we play a not-so-great defense. NMSU and Southern Miss are ranked in the hundreds and we found offensive success. Good thing we are playing Kennesaw State, their defense is pretty bad ranked #107 overall.

    With the rest of the scheduled (highlighted in red), look like the team that will give us a huge challenge defensively is Washington State. The rest of the guys in CUSA are pretty awful.

    Total Defense Ranking (9/29)
    #26 LSU
    #52 Washington State
    #57 UTEP
    #61 Louisiana Tech
    #93 WKU
    #95 Liberty
    #102 Southern Miss
    #107 Kennesaw State
    #114 NMSU
    #131 Sam Houston

    (not calculated) MO State
    Around #90 passing yards allowed
    Around #130 rushing defense

    Our woeful offense can make any defense look good.

    I had mentioned that we were due for a scoop and score. So I was referring to a pick six instead of a scoop and score. I would really like to have offense score though . . .

    UTEP is ranked 57th in Defense? That's hard to believe. Not saying I don't believe you......it's just really hard to believe. But, UTEP's defense did do a number on our offense. So......

    It's from the NCAA Football Stat (https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs).

    Some categories UTEP excel in:

    #11 3rd Down Conversion Pct Defense
    #20 4th Down Conversion Pct Defense
    #43 Passing Yards Allowed

    UTEP’s defense wasn’t great, but they weren’t bad either. They did enough to prevent our offense to establish any kind of rhythm. I think Tony Franklin’s game plan leaned too much on the pass in this game, probably a bit overconfident from what we did against USM. Our offense should look better later in the season when they face weaker CUSA defenses.

    Has anyone mentioned that the UTEP TV production was worse than ours?

    I haven't seen ours to compare, but the color guy was not very bright.

    Twice (once for each team), the punt return had PUNT BLOCK called, so the punt returner called for a fair catch, but no one was withing 10 yards of him, except 8 punt team guys ready to pounce. The color guy couldn't fathom why the returner called a fair catch.

    Wasn't great but better overall, I think. At least their sideline reporter wasn't SCREAMING at us!

    Not gonna fault our sideline reporter. It's the folks in the control room that needs to level the audio. I've rewatched the USM highlights, her audio is clipping. Lower the gain and increase the volume. The field mic sounds bad too (1:09 mark - fans screaming is super distorted). The only one who's mic sounded decent was Luke McCown. Also, we need calibrate all video sources to match the same color/brightness/color temp. This will be addressed. Ivey knows. The next in-house production will be the Liberty game on Nov 22. The WKU and Sam Houston games will be done by CBSSN

    Below is what a very high-end college production looks and sound. Just audio alone is a light and day difference vs what we are producing. Stadium mic sounds clear. The announcer audio is balanced and mixed well.

    To be fair, lsu probably spends as much on their football media program as we do on the entire university

    Just comparing what is the high end of the college broadcasting spectrum.

    Interview of LSU Director of Broadcast Operation. They have 5 separate control rooms for their sport venues. That's pretty impressive, but they do have a lot of money.
