I had a feeling, one that has been brewing all season, that this team has been winning by "smoke and mirrors". Just looking back, we could be easily 2-4 as well as 4-2. Our only hope was the defense. Now, without our star, we are below average. I was pissed after the game, so much that I couldn't sleep. I was furious to know that our fans were set up like bowling pins and bowled over. 5-7 for the season at best. Negative Nick, that's me.

Only the president of a university can fire an employee. Often they follow the advice of others, but the prez holds the only authority. Henderson doesn't give a chit. Right now I think 5-7 is the most logical prediction. Who could be that 6th win? Whoever it is they will have to help us with some self-inflicted wounds, like fumbles at key moments. It could happen.
We were 5-7 last year so as long as he matches that I think he's safe. That will be "good enough" for our fearless leaders.
Yep, you're probably right. Sam Houston State should provide that 5th win. Lose that one and this bunch is looking at 4-8.

A 5-7 finish, and Crummy's gone. I've never heard of a football coach anywhere getting more than 4 consecutive losing seasons. I know LA Tech's standards are low, but damn, at some point even Tech folk have to step up and actually DO SOMETHING POSITIVE for the football program.
So, 5-7, and Crummy is certianly gone. 6-6 and he may have some support, but I think he'll still be gone.
I think Crummy has got to win 7 games THIS YEAR to save his job. LA Tech AD Ryan Ivey doesn't want his 1st year in the Sunbelt to be marred with a gigantic weight around his neck. That would put HIM (Ivey) at risk. Tech fans aren't going to like losing to ULM and ULL in the Sunbelt next year. Ryan Ivey better know that by now. Ivey will prefer to enter the 2026 season with a clean slate.
I sure hope you're right.
Even if he DOES win 7 games, Ivey has to know the inevitable outcome next year, so we will still be in the same position.

I think he does squeak out 7 wins, and then anything can happen in a bowl game. After that he gets a contract extension and we are stuck with him for perpetuity.
I can already hear it. "Why are you upset about an 8 win season!?" Because I don't want to lose to ULM and ULL for the next 15 years
Penn State finally fired Franklin. Just could never get over the hump. He is 1-18 vs. Top 10 teams all time. Has a solid winning record overall, but that doesn't get it done at a program like Penn State. They certainly wouldn't tolerate a coach with 3, going on 4, losing seasons.
Even if we get 7 wins, I don't think I'll be happy with Cumbie staying. CUSA is extremely weak this year. After 4 years and only 7 wins in the weakest conference as his height? That doesn't make me confident in the program. 8 wins and I'll feel fine, 9 and I'll be looking forward to next year.
We DO NOT want to lose to the UL_ twins at all. Losing them in our first year of the SBC will be the worst outcome. Remember, we haven't lost to ULL since Seinfeld was on air and Cheers was on air for a loss to ULM. I do not feel Cumbie is capable of beating them both right now.
CUSA is pathetically weak. I thought WKU and maybe Delaware might be good, but both got clobbered this week. Jax State, defending CUSA champion, appears to be the best in the league. The tallest midget in the room.
Any halfway decent coach (team) should be able to win at least half of their games vs. weak CUSA opponents. Can Crummy's bunch do that?

That's only 3 games Tech will play in 34 days. That's just a stupid schedule. That's as bad as Congress taking vacation.
I don't even know how our players can stay in "game shape" playing only 3 games in 34 days? And if you take it one step further to the 11/8 game, that's 4 games Tech will play in 42 days.
I've never seen a schedule this goofy in my life, save for the COVID season.
