Lost 46-75
Shot 29% from the floor, 18 of 62. In those were 8 missed layups and 4 more misses, with some defensive pressure that could have/should have fallen. Were just 7 of 15 from the FT line, 47%. Lost by 29. But add in 16 for the easy misses, and let's say 2 of the other 4, up to 20 points, and let's use 72% from the line, so that adds in another 4 points, for a grand total of 24 points "left on the floor." Both teams committed a bunch of turnovers, each with 20. Hard to say what that added/subtracted from each team's total points, although there were at least three really bad TOs for Tech which resulted in us missing a chance on the offensive end and giving them a snowbird layup. We got out-rebounded 44-36, but given their height advantage, this stat isn't too bad.
Point is, it was a 29-point loss but most of that was self-inflicted wounds. Game should have been much closer and more competitive. And, in hoops, when a game is close players start pressing and making more mistakes. The reffing was okay for the whole game, but one-sided in the 1st qtr. Baylor went on a 14-0 run to break it open and a good portion of that is credited to the zebras.
Our girls are not tough. They are not physically tough and more importantly, not mentally tough. They play scared and are easily intimidated by a supposed "superior" opponent. They go into games like this expecting to lose...and they do.
And, Averie Aaron has yet to show up this season. Six games in and she's nothing but a liability. Needs to step up and play to her potential.
That's all. Other than this...Love dem Techsters!
