    here is my take:

cusa and memphis were willing to put memphis in detroit so houston could go bowling. im sure memphis would have rather gone to mobile, fort worth, or hawaii. but they went to detroit to help houston.

the wac and boise st. were not willing to do that for tech. nevada could have drawn a good enough crowd in boise against boston college if boise went to detroit.

he said they did everything possible. i think they did everything possible to try and get tech in motor city bowl. they did not do everything possible to get tech in A BOWL, because they could have offered boise to the motor city bowl.

they say that tech is welcome in the wac, but i dont see them doing anything for us.
With all due respect, why shouldn't Boise get to play at home? They earned it on the field in Ruston 2 weeks ago!

If the roles were reversed and the I-Bowl was part of the WAC bowl picture, you would be some of the first to bitch (just as I would) if TECH were asked to abandon a berth in Shreveport for one in Detroit! There would be calls for public lynchings if Oakes or Reneau agreed too such a scenerio to help a conference mate avoid a bowl snub!
I'm an asshole! What's your excuse?

I must disagree with CARTEK here again.

OK, so let's say the roles are indeed reversed. If we have been "fortunate" to play in Shreveport for the, what say last 6 of 8 seasons as Boise has, I think I'd be more than willing to go to a different bowl for one season of extraneous circumstances, if it was for the good of the conference. The issue here is not that they get to go to a bowl, the clearly deserved a bowl over us, but a matter of being slightly accomodating for the good of the WAC as a whole.

i the fan would not like it because i may not be able to attend.

but you KNOW that benson would have us going to detroit in a heartbeat if it meant boise (or probably any other wac school) could go bowling.

It is better for the conference for the bowl to get its attendance and stay sanctioned. They have to get 25k this year. That wouldn't happen with Tech or Nevada.

    How noble of you!

BSU has only played in the MPC Bowl 4 times in its 8 year history; the last being in 2002.

I have ZERO problem with BSU getting to stay and play at home...they earned that right on the football field...and their fans are entitled to the rewards the team's play has afforded them!

We take care of business against Kansas, Nevada, or BSU...and all of these posts never happen.
I'm an asshole! What's your excuse?

Only played 4 times in 8 years! That is a hell of a lot better than 2 times in any bowl in 15 years (Us). Boise may have earned the right to 'A' bowl but not necessarily the MPC Bowl. Last time I checked, Boise doesn't have an automatic tie to that bowl, unlike Hawaii with the Hawaii Bowl.

If the WAC's goal is to create bowls in its own markets STRICTLY for the benefits of the hometown school, I think we either need to (A) create a bowl for ourselves, maybe call it the Redneck Bowl in Shreveport , and play it 1 week or two before the real bowls start...sound familiar? New Orleans Bowl then Sugar Bowl; Poinsettia Bowl then Holiday Bowl... or (B) get the hell out of the WAC and become an independent because there are obviously no advantages to WAC membership, other than "perceived" national recognition which is apparently b.s.
