    Shady Selection Business

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncw/ncaato...lle&id=2367964

I've seen a few people surprised that Washington made the NCAA tourney. Maybe Western Kentucky has a right to be upset......go look at that list of people on the committee, and the 10th person listed may have had something to do with this. Maybe, maybe not....but it looks interesting. An the 9th person couldn't have had anything to do with Tennessee being a 2 seed in North Carolina's bracket, on the other side of LSU.......could she have anything to do with that? Hmmmm, I dunno, but it makes sense to me. Also, I'm sure the 8th person had no problems with Tenn/NC in the same bracket on the other side of Duke TOO.......

    Just thoughts.........

And don't forget, the chairwoman for next year's committee is from LSU.

Just something to keep an eye on.

    I like that article!

And, about the oh so-powerful ACC, yes, seems like every year it gets an obligatory 7 teams in....about time that league wins its second NC. (No sense reliving the ACC's only NC, now is it? )

To the person, who left me the "paranoid" comment on my reputation: If you can give me anything resembling a logical reason as to how North Carolina and Tennessee ended up in the same bracket, I'll admit to being paranoid. :-)

Plus , i wasn't saying/not saying that the committee was doing things like this. I'm just saying that it "coincidentally" fits with the complaints that a lot of people have already brought up since yesterday. Take what you want from it, I was just writing things that I thought were a little peculiar/interesting.

It's only paranoia until your fears are proven true. Based on the shadiness in the brackets, I really don't think it's paranoia.

As long as the wbb selection committee is a FRONT for NOW - you will have these problems -

This is sport is one of the biggest farces there is in college athletics - it reeks with sexism and is about as straightlaced as the BCS -

But atleast the BCS does place some of the opposite gender in the decision making panel -

Speaking as myself, and not an admin, it was probably one of our resident tiger fans that left you the comment. Probably a Big tiger fan. Yep, a Big Bengal tiger fan.

Although she's not on the selection committee, NCAA vice president for Div. 1 women's basketball, Sue Donohoe, is a LA Tech graduate and was a graduate assistant under Coach Barmore in the early 80's.

There is lots of paranoid ideation around. If anything, I think the real threat is more about bcs conferences than anything else. Also, that DANG made up imaginary label of "mid major" that is not even a real term, but that so many of us are so quick to accept has a lot to do with it, as well.

Well, maybe Sue can settle all this and appoint members on that committee next year to include: Old Dominion, La. Tech, Tennessee, Texas, Connecticut, LSU, Baylor, Penn State, Auburn, Duke and Stanford. The universities who have "been there."

FOR PURE ENTERTAINMENT VALUE I WOULD PAY BIG BUCKS TO WATCH THE DYNAMICS OF THIS GROUP WORKING TO SELECT A 64-TEAM TOURNEY. Now that is how you steal any kind of thunder from the guys' tourney.

I think you are on track, but how about ONLY programs that have a National Championship being on the committee? Tech, ODU, TTech, Tennessee, Stanford, Purdue, Texas, etc....

Well at least Lady Techster fans are aware that we're always going to get a lower seed than what we'd expect. I used to get so fired up and now I just nod, smile and try to figure out how I'm going to see the game. At least now that I'm in Houston I have a chance of seeing the game. Living in San Diego, I had to watch Stanford and Cal and UCSB.

At the end of the day though you just have to win.

Good post. I wasn't surprised really when we got the #11 seed. A few years ago I would have flipped my lid. Now I just try to look at it as we got a good draw. The only thing I'm worried about is when they start deciding we shouldn't go at all. These days, I can take getting a lower seed when we should be higher (to some degree). I won't be able to take not dancing when everyone knows we should be....and based on Western Kentucky this year, they have no qualms about shafting non-big conference teams with high RPIs.
