Wow! Exactly where is this magic "spot" that never moves??

In 1970 there were about 15,000 surface measuring stations. Many have been discarded and fallen into disrepair. By 2000, the number had fallen to less than 5000. Most remaining ones ae in highly populated urban areas. Most of those lost were in rural areas. Under the best of conditions the surface coverage is very spotty and very clustered.

There is no "magic" place to record an average temperature for the earth. And there is no way to accurately CALCULATE an "average global temperature."

Alta, please go back and read my post of April 10 (#1556) in this thread and get a grip on just how sparsely deficient our measuring systems really are.

So are you debating that it isn't getting warmer or you just trying to point out holes in the system of taking measurements?

I have no opinion except that the ice is going to get too thick down there and outweigh the ice loss in the north, then the earth will tilt over and start spinning in the wrong direction. I don't think this can be a good thing!

Evidence...I don't need no stinky evidence!

All the evidence I need is this: when the scientist associated with the recently released international product begin distancing themselves from the document because (1) it doesn't reflect the results of their research and (2) the bureaucrats drafted it without input from the scientist...I have about all the evidence I need.

LOL. Well said. These guys get more ridiculous with their conspiracy theory's every day. Nevermind the "scientific" minds on here who must be the .001% left of the reputable "scientists" still denying the truth. Meanwhile, the REAL story gets more clear everyday with people who actually know whats going on.

And I love how a few get on this board and act like not only are they completely right all the time, but everyone must agree with them, meanwhile polls show that the VAST majority of avg Joe's are on board. They know its a big problem and getting worse and they want change.

Within the last year, I think, I posted about having seen something on t.v. or read something somewhere a couple of years ago that mentioned that some people thought that was the possible cause of the last ice age or something like that. I don't remember how it was thought that the earth changing it's tilt was able to cause the ice age, though. However, I don't remember the article having blamed AGW for that, though. It was a natural cycle as I remember. Not saying that is the case now. Just saying.
