it's rediculous to say that paul is better than boozer, or that boozer can't defend. but paul is probably the best natural defender on that team. he can defend just about anyone except a point guard. it amazes me how well he moves his feet. he can go out and help on the perimeter and still get back in time to defend underneath. however, he makes a few rookie mistakes trying for too much sometimes, which results in easy buckets for the other team or fouls on him. with more time to learn he will truly be great.
also, teams know what a great offensive rebounder he is, and he is often purposefully double-blocked-out from the offensive glass. this helps his teammates when he is in the game (i think i heard a stat that utah is the best offensive rebounding team in the league, or something like that).
i think that paul should be in the game before ak (i won't try to spell his name), but i don't think there is any way to justify giving him more playing time than boozer or harpring at this time.
also, paul knows how to defend ming. yao has a habit of pulling the ball down and not protecting it (being the giant that he is, there is no excuse for that). every time he does that, paul takes it away from him. the problem with that is that yao is a star and a rookie can't take the ball away from him without getting a foul called (see 2 fouls on paul in game 1). that is reason #46 that i hate the nba.
