Are you kidding. We have the most recognizable logo and we should feel honored to use La Tech. It flows. Like Southern Miss and Ole Miss. It works and we should continue to use it. Say no to LTU.

I say no to both. I prefer Louisiana Tech. The word Louisiana. I just happen to think La Tech sounds...well I can't say the word on here to describe how I think it sounds (maybe a similie of a cat would work). :icon_wink:

Yes I know. Espn blah blah blah. And I'll get used to it maybe. One year I'll hear it and I won't cringe. I'll break the habit of hearing some ignorant commentator say it and screaming at the TV or the radio - IT'S LOUISIANA TECH YOU IDIOT. Or SAY THE WORD LOUISIANA YOU MORON.

He said the correct way was to say: loo-z-ana(soft emphasis on the Z) NOT la-wee-z-ana
If he heard a student in his class pronounce it --la-wee-z-ana he would fail them-period..

He maintained and is correct that the state was name in honor of King Louis XIV..
and of course his name was pronounced : loo-is...

I have done commercial production and voice work throughout our state and other states and always use Dr. Minchews prounciation---never had it thrown back at me for re-do.

For those radio ads and such that I've heard, it sounds too much like LOSE-iana TECH.

I cringe everytime I hear you say it in the ads.... drives me nuts. I wouldn't have said anything, but you had to post on this thread... so there it is.

Being from Arkansas I was thankful to have instructors like Louisiana history teacher Morgan Peoples who told us the correct way to pronounce the state is "Looziana", after Lou, not Louise.
If you'd attend a few more classes we might get you educated Doc . . . . not!

Oh Dawgpix, didn't you just love Morgan Peoples? I was fortunate enough to be his assistant editor for two years on the NLAHA Journal when I was a grad student. He and Dr. Winters and Dr. Thompson were the best. Ah, the good old days!
