I’m going to Tech for the education, not the athletic program. My allegiance is not bought with the name on the diploma I will receive.
Huh? This kid is dumber than cardboard.
I guess he doesn't realize that the Louisiana Tech "name" on that diploma will follow him around the rest of his life. The LSU name won't.
For the record, many of the people I work with hate people like this.....people who graduate from one school and claim to be a fan of another. It's a indication that the person is always looking for an easy way out, has tendacies to be disloyal and can't be trusted.

Jordan Mills on choosing Tech:
“It’s a great experience seeing them play. It was a good atmosphere. The fans stood up the whole game and never sat down. They have a great fan base.”
in college, i didn't hang out with people like this (or at least they didn't admit it around me), and my limited contact with Tech grads since i graduated has been people that are indifferent about football or fans of Tech. but i have run into a few people that are grads of one college and fans of another (houston grads that root for the longhorns, ok state grads that root for oklahoma, and one particularly obnoxious auburn grad that is a huge alabama fan). while i don't know that it is necessarily a sign that they can't be trusted, it certainly does show a lack of self confidence and deficiency in leadership.
I met a guy a couple of years ago in Florida that had a huge Auburn tattoo on his calf. We started talking football, with me mentioning the 2 forward pass play that beat Tech, then I asked what year he graduated from Auburn. He looks at me and says, "I didn't go to Auburn, I graduated from UAB". At that point, I knew I was talking to a wagon jumper, that made poor decisions. Might be a great guy, but I wouldn't want him to make a decision that would affect me, because you know he'd take the easy way out.
Exactly! Can you even imagine a Texas grad being an A&M sports fan instead of rooting for the Horns? Or the opposite is even more crazy and you would never see an Aggie wearing a UT burnt orange shirt or hat or anything that comes close. Heck, they even made Home Depot paint their store maroon in College Station, Texas! How about a SMU grad actually cheering for TCU and wearing their purple hornfrog garb. These type of clowns in Louisiana, some of which are TECH grads I'm sorry to say, just don't get it! The rest of the country thinks your nutts! And as HD just stated, it smacks of little to zero loyalty or trustworthiness to anything in life. It must be the French influence or something.

It afflicts Arkansas as well. They have high profile hog fans that are UCA or stAte grads.
Unfortunately the media, print and television, define our culture. People identify with and talk about what they are fed and Louisiana Tech ain't it. We have an uphill battle to claim the hearts and minds of sports fans in our region, but it can be done.
Winning over several consecutive years resulting in some national attention will turn the tide as has been noted previously by many on this board.
We also must call out situations such as this one by a Tech Talk writer. If we are unwilling to stand up for Tech who do we think will?
What is wrong with the journalism majors here?
One point: Yes we haven't been a power nationally.
Second point: If we had more fan support it would help. LSU needs no help.
I just interviewed with a law firm in Atlanta. The practice leader is an Alabama grad (undergrad and law school). Care to guess what his opinion of Louisiana Tech is?
