Don't listen to all the rumors about Houston. C'mon down...the humidity is no worse than Atlanta's...so I'm told. I live in Spring and it's only 5 1/2 - 6 hours to Ruston. The economy in Houston is great, the housing is plentiful and affordable. The cost of living here is probably as cheap as anywhere in the continental United States. Short winters and lots of time for golf. The public courses are probably far better than most private courses...provided you play. Oh...yea, there are lots of Tech folks down here also.......

Houston is OK, I was just ready for a change. The humidity is really bad though.... :icon_wink:

i would much rather live in huntsville, but houston's not bad. the humidity is probably a little bit worse than atlanta, but the smog is not quite as bad. traffic is definitely worse in atlanta. houston is closer to Tech, and the economy is booming. advantage, houston.

I avoid Houston whenever possible. Hot, humid, bad traffic, and the air is really bad. I love living in San Antonio. It is like a small town that got large but kept its small town attitude. The traffic is not bad at all (better than Austin by a long shot), the air is good, dry climate most of the time, and plenty to do. The only problem with San Antonio is that it is a long drive to see the Dawgs.

I was in San Antonio for the Final Four. It was my first trip and I hope not my last.

People are talking about traffic, smog, humidity..... BATON ROUGE guys.. I REALLY hate this city. I get bronchitis on a regular basis here, the people are jerks, the traffic sucks, and there is NO culture here at all. Besides that, I wanna burn down a school every time I have to see/hear about anything LSU. (not really though, haha) I'm razzed on a DAILY basis at work, but those people can kiss my educated arse.

Oh yeah, and Houston's a decent town.

Baton Rouge is a HORRIBLE city. It stinks. Really. I spent a couple weeks there and there's industrial smells or sewage always wafting around downtown, except at lunch time when it mingles with all the food smells.

And the traffic is to die for, literally. Crime rate isn't that low either.

The only time I like Baton Rouge is when I come back from New Orleans.... THAT'S bad. I miss only two places, and those are Ruston and a suburb in western Tokyo...

My wife and kids and I just love S.A. we go there every year. We take the scenic route down 281 and stop at all the little towns in the Hill Country. The best BBQ I have ever had is at a restaurant called The Salt Lick in Driftwood on the way down. We stay at that Hill Country Resort by Sea World or on the River Walk. I love history so I really like the old missions. S.A. is a great area. I am only 35 and I have already decided I am retiring just north of there. (I'm still going to hate the Spurs though :icon_wink

BTW- I just read this entire thread and I wanted to add one more thing. The author of the blogs attitude was given away by the fact that he calls Tech "They". That speaks volumes. When you call your own school they there is no hope to convert him into a real fan. It's a waste of time.

There's no way to convert him into a real man either. Keep your "old grey hat." We don't want you.

Is he fired from the school paper yet?
