Agree. The lead singer can actually sing. The guitar players and my son (Evan on bass) are all music theory geeks. All the songs on the site are original.
and what's funny is the lead singer is the nicest kid you could meet. Sharp. nice. Plays in the band at church on Sundays.

That's what I keep telling them. If Brownie (the lead singer) would sing, rather than scream, I think they'd be awesome. But WTF do I know, I'm old.

Well, I think they are talented. If they keep at it they could become really good. I have a preference against pure scream music, but the vocalist has good control of his "growl." A little scream is cool, but I like it much better when it used as a change of pace to make emphasis. But that is just my preference, I understand that there are tons of people who love this style of metal. Screaming like this does require talent and work, especially if you don't want to damage your vocal chords. With that said, his growl is good and it seems like he has the ability to sing conventionally. I do not care for his in-between when he seems to be singing in the normal voice and layering the scream false vocal chord thing on top.
Guitars (bass included) and drums are cool. I like what they doing with time signatures and song structure. The tones are also nice. OTOH, alot of it sounds like things I have heard before. The exception to the "I have heard this before" are some of the unconventional guitar solos. I can appreciate doing things differently, but I do not understand the choice of scale (or lack thereof) used in a couple of the solos.
With all of that said, they seem to be on the right track. I am certainly not an expert on how to make this kind of music, but I feel like they could find their own (unique) voice with time and practice. I am sure they have great ideas and with their talent, they could eventually produce a true masterpiece.

They played a show at a club in Pasa-get down-dena tonight. They did a good job. They were more comforable performing, especially my kid. He was doing the whole head banging thing. Freaked my wife out.
I was impressed that he could do that whole really0fast-head up-and-down-thing while still executing some pretty complicated bass riffs.
Headbanging makes me dizzy. I can't imagine trying to play an instrument while doing it.

I thought for a bunch of 18 year olds they were pretty good. I like the arpeggios mixed in with the solos, but I can see what you mean about the the choice of scales they used. It seemed like the syncopation got off a little bit during the solos also. Overall pretty good and much better than I was at that age.
